Team of destiny in St. Louis.
I'm not just being a homer. Best team I've seen since the '75 Reds. And yes, I saw the '75 Reds in person!

Re: Cardinals VS Red Sox WORLD SERIES
I saw the Cardinals play live 3 times. Caught a double header against the Expos in early September 1976 while visiting St. Louis, which they lost. Cards coughed up big leads in both. What was memorable about one of the games was an inside the park home run by Lou Brock. He hit it down the left field line with the left fieleder in pusuit. It caromed past him in the corner, heading for center. By the time the fielder chased it down, Sweet Lou was sailing home.
Also memorable was a game against the Dodgers in LA, 1977. Cards should have cleaned them out, but only led 3-2 in the 9th. Dusty Baker tied it with a two out homer. Somehow, the Dodgers loaded the bases. The Mad Hungarian, reliever Al Hrabosky faced Davey Lopes. Lopes was at the plate at least 15 minutes. Hrabosky would stare Lopes down, then turn and scowl away. Lopes would be waiting for the pitch, and he in turn would back away from the box, rent with emotion. When a pitch finally came, Lopes fouled it away. Then the mind games between the two continued. It was during this at bat that the most remarkable coincidence I ever witnessed took place. Lopes fouled two pitches in this at bat to the the exact same fan in the first row of the second deck out in right field. Both times, the fan grabbed it, only to see it slip through his fingers and fall to the lower deck. What are the odds on that? Finally, Lopes lined out to left. In the 10th, Cards got a hit, bunt and hit to forge ahead 4-3 and win it.
Never saw the Red Sox play live, didn't have time to see them in 1976 when I was visiting Boston on the same trip I saw the Cards.
Hope it is a fun 7 game series, good luck to both!

Re: Cardinals VS Red Sox WORLD SERIES
I'm a little late to this debate, but...I am a big Red Sox fan so hope they will take it home. This series has been fun to watch so far. Boston's street look baseball with errors and all seem destined to get it done.
I've been to Fenway several times and got to meet Nomar. It's a great place to watch baseball. My only complaint about the series games at Boston was who the hell chose the National Anthem singers? Thank God for Martina McBride and her rendition last night. If they go back to Boston, I hope they go to Cheers and get some drunks to sing--they'll do a better job than Tyler and Taylor. Just my opinion but the anthem's part of the game.

Re: Cardinals VS Red Sox WORLD SERIES
You don't get much more Boston than Steven Tyler and Aerosmith. I actually thought he was good singing the anthem. Did you hear Amy Grant last night? Damn, that was painful.

Re: Cardinals VS Red Sox WORLD SERIES
I agree. Amy has sounded better. She is not your typical "God Bless America" singer. I agree Tyler is Boston, but his Anthem was painful.
