Frat or Not
Do ladies have misconceptions about guys who are in fraternities. It seems that any lady that isn't a part of the greek life themselves look at a brother like their a scumbag, player, bastard. Im just curious if thats for all women in general. I know as a guy i would love to get into any of the sorities on campus and hang out with the girls hoping i could hookup with one of them or see a little girl on girl action. Fellas let me hear your opinion on this too.

Re: Frat or Not
I'd really like to hear from the one girl (so far) that said "Frats are bad."
I'd venture a guess to say she is referring to guys in a particular "frat" (you don't call a country a "cunt", don't call a fraternity a "frat") and not the institution itself.

Re: Frat or Not
Boys, Booze and Bitches.....anything involving that me likey.
Hehe, but honestly, i have no real opinions of fraternities or sororities...I've never been to a school that had a Greek System. There are the old thoughts and stereotypes of frats, but i think it seems like it could be real fun...I don't think i'd necessarily date a frat guy, but it depends on the guy and how trustworthy he is.

Don't quite get what you're going for here, but i've heard many a person call them "frat" houses and it's much easier than saying fraternity every other word in a conversation on fraternities...Shit, it's even annoying to type.

Re: Frat or Not
I understand it is easier to say and all that. However, as someone who is in a fraternity, I take offense to it being called a "frat." "Frat" is a derrogitory term that has many negative connotations.

Umm... sure.
As far as I know the only Frat that didn't have any "negative connotations" was Lamda-Lamda-Lamda (Revenge of the Nerds). :happycow:

Re: Frat or Not
There in lies the problem, Clemson.
I assume that your knowledge base of fraternities is not all that extensive. Of course, with a small sample, you are bound to find results one way or another.
Unfortunately, many people have preconceived notions of fraternity and they will not be easily swayed even if examples are shown and given in support of "good" fraternities.

Re: Frat or Not
at osu frats are not cool at all cause most of the guys are joining them because they think that it is somehow gonna make girls swoon and guys will love them, guys today don't join frats for brotherhood or anything honest they want the flashy tits and ass life that girls gone wild has promoted, they say brotherhood and what not, but most guys in frats want the party life, and the sororities i have seen have had a lot of fighting girls that still seemed like they are in high school

Re: Frat or Not
im with OG on this one nikki....id like to hear about fraternities from you...i have friends in both fraternities and sororities. and gman is right on, your real friends are far more loyal than any of your brothers or sisters will ever be....im not sayin you CANT make really good friends by joining, but its not likely. there are some really great people in fraternities and sororities but those negative conotations...in my experience have proven to be true...
to answer your question Goodguy, in my case, its not a misconception since ive actually dated some before. i dont stereotype people, so i have no problem with people in fraternities or sororities...i just dont care to date em anymore

Re: Frat or Not
Well, I would agree to some extent on the outside friends being more loyal. However, I have found many great friends in my fraternity who are as loyal to me as any one person can be to another. Conversely, I am loyal to them. Again, I think it is just a fraternity to fraternity thing.
Some fraternities are full of jerks who are only out to drink and get laid. Others are full of guys who are respectful to women but know how to have a good time.
Mine falls under the last grouping. Not only that, but we have a real tie/responsibility to the community. Philanthropy is something that is VERY important to us.
I could go into much greater detail if the need presents itself.
The point of this all is that one cannot base the idea of fraternity on movies or even one or two houses. My experiences have allowed me to cross paths with many a fraternity at many a school. With the exception of a few, they have all been similar to mine.
