For those who are stuck with WMA's that are copy protected by Microsoft for any reason, there is a program called 'unfuck' that will remove that protection. I got real pissed off when I lost one of my CD's, but found the WMA's on my computer. None of the burning software, conversion software that I had would allow me to create the CD. Use 'unfuck' and it will burn just fine. You'll need to acquire the license for your computer alone before you can run 'unfuck' but that option is displayed in a session of your favorite internet browser.

Unfuck.exe will unprotect WMRM v6 protected files only!

Q: Ok, I have a WMRM v6 protected wma file.. what do i do ?
A: You first have to register the file before unprotecting it !

1) first register the file by trying to play the file
2) a browser window will popup, choose yes,
open from location ...music starts .. stop music ..
3) Than load it into unfuck.exe

Lots of people complained it didn't work ..
this is why :

Unfuck.exe uses a work-around; the file must actually be registered first. But it always registers the first time you listen to it. Unfuck.exe takes an already registered WMA file and outputs it as a WAV, than re-encodes it into an unprotected WMA file.

Do this within the timelimit and you have an
unprotected WMA file.

Update : You can't unfuck a wma if it incorporates the 'Windows Media Rights Manager V7' system or higher.
If you try to unprotect a wma file with v7 or higher protection you will get an "error playing file" error.

Can't you just make an audio CD of the files and then rip them to MP3 like normal?
The quality is going to be effected if you use unfuck or audio-to-mp3, but its usually minor.
