I personally really enjoyed Knights of the Old Republic. You can take either side of the force and has a lot of side missions... If i remember correctly it takes somewhere between 20-30 hours to beat just straight through... i took my time, tried to do all the missions and wasted about 60 hours of my life playing...

Also... not quite as entertaining in my opinion, but Dungeon Siege can be pretty fun.

My favorite recently-released PC RPG is Morrowind. It look me, uh, a good while to actually beat it because of how many side-quests are available to the player.

Yeah I'd have to agree with Knights of the Old Republic being suggested. If you want a good rpg, and love Star Wars, this one shouldn't be missed.

A game I got turned onto is Ragnarok Online. I got it from guys I know, so I'm not shure where to get the softeware, but googleing it could work. Its an MMORPG, but there are several free servers to play on. Once you play it for a bit its fun & addicting.

Theres also WoW when it comes out!

Well Ragnarok and World of Warcraft are online rpg's that require subscription. While both good, I don't think thats what he was after.

i would suggest vampire bloodlines. its an awesome rpg, very open ended, and quite recent. i don't think you will be disappointed. i liked it better than kotor.

I'd suggest city of heroes. (haven't played it yet but by friends rave about it) They say it is a cross between an averquest style rpg and comic books... I don't know if its your style of game, but, it could be worth looking into. It's website is here...

an RPG for the PC, eh? My favorite offline RPG is "Neverwinter Nights". For online MMORPG's, I like either Asheron's Call or my current favorite "The Saga of Ryzom". Fair warning though: Those games are all fairly graphic-intensive, and won't run well unless your computer has about half a gig of ram and a nice video card.

Another not-quite RPG but very fun is Vampire: Bloodlines. Has some aspects of an fps, which I'm not crazy about, but the story and chars are compelling

I noticed someone above recommended Star Wars: KotOR. I just finished KotOR 2 - The Sith Lords. Excellent game! If you don't care what genre the RPG is in, I would strongly recomend it.

I agree with the KOTOR suggestion. But if you have time to play for hours and hours over the next few days, then maybe Neverwinter Nights would be a better fit...that game looked very cool and was fun to play in the beginning, but it was so massive that I never had the time to finish it.
