In my government class we have been discussing the fact if U.S. should ever have invaded Iraq. I have listened to many of my classmate's opinions and find it very humorous when most of them say "Yes, we should stay in Iraq because of 9/11". To this, I would reply "It wasn't the people of Iraq who commited the terrorist attack against U.S." Many of my classmaters would get offended and start stating how Iraq is terrorist and we should bomb them. Then I tell them "We have just as many, if not more, terrorists living in the U.S. as Iraq, should we find out where they live and go bomb those cities as well killing many innocent victems?" After this comment, many realize how ignorant they are and don't reply to this, some reply by saying "I hope we kill all of the Iraqis". Then I ask them, will you ever join the army and go fight in Iraq, to which I get alot of replys of "No way, I don't wanna die." That's when I just give them the 'You are a dumbfuck' stare and never speak with them again. This post is to all of you people who still think Americans should be in Iraq risking their lives for no good reason, while you sit there at the t.v. barely hearing about the ones who lose their lives everyday in Iraq.

It's too late for that. Sure, we should have never gone into Iraq the way we did.... but we DID go there, and now we need to clean up our mess. We can't just pull out anf leave a country that we destroyed to their own devices. We've burglarized them of their devices. Now we need to stick it out and give service when necessary. Our asshole president got us into this, now we're here. The lives lost, you can blame on the Bush admin.

Your exactly right...it is way too late to just pull out of Iraq now. There's i smuch rebuilding to be done, and if we did pull out now the influx of terrorists in the country and the few clerics that are being so aggressiv etowards the US would just claim power as the govt of Iraq. What good would have ever been done by removing Sadaam then? Your class mates sound like they have no idea what they are speaking of, but your comments were not all that great either! President Bush got us into this, now that we are there we can't just pull out and leave them to what be like the first Bush did. That was the main reason for the majority of criticisms from Iraqi's when we first invaded...they were scared we would leave them again, leave them to die after coming out and showing support for us. And for your comment about not going to Iraq and doing anything...I have many friends in Iraq right now..one that I talk to on almost a daily basis. I also have intention of doing volunteer work in Iraq as soon as I finish my internship and school here in May. And my answer is still the same regardless, yes we should still be there because its too late now...and yes I think sadaam should have been removed a long long time ago.

Now go to dictionary.com and look up the word perspective. The world and the middle east will be better off, anyone can see that, even if you are voting for kerry. Insert a muslim democracy in the middle east and watch the other nations follow suit, one way or the other.

Damn I know it sucks that people are dying but when you compare it to the numbers in any other major conflict/war the numbers are incredibly low.

I find that to be an unrealisticly optamistic opinion. While I don't think it is impossible, I think the more likely situation is that this will result in stronger support for terrorist factions. Now they have an even better propaganda angle than they did before 9/11. Think of how many people in and around Iraq are seriously pissed off at the U.S. for the number of civilian casualties this campaign has resulted in. Wanting to avenge your destroyed town, murdered family, friends, etc is the perfect reason for them to side with insurgents.

Not to mention the fact that terrorists can now point to Iraq and start telling people elsewhere, "Look what they did to Iraq. We have to get them before they get us!"

So in many respects, we've done little more than reaffirm the reasoning they've been using to recruit members. Mix in a few dashes of religious extremeism and you've just thrown a few boxes of bullets into the campfire.

I totally agree that U.S. should get out of Iraq but however it might be too late since America is already in a serious combat. Realistically, things are getting more and more catastrophic everyday. It seems as though Bush will get elected, and this is going to make things worse in the future. I am just curious as how the government will manage to turn things around in this fake war. It seems as though America is preparing its own end, and this end will come when the people will finally find the power to step against their government. Because right now, rich people are getting richer, and America is serving that top rich elite. It is sad that the world is going to go through a really hard time in the future with also the impact of environmental crisis. These could be the last golden years.

Its one thing to go to war that was justified by poor intelligence. But people forget that Bush problem is not just "our" bully attitude, but our allies with the UN, now have problems with us. Tony Blair almost lost his PM, due to this war, I lived over there for 9 months. If Iraq is a better place without Saddam, then what about the massacres that go in Africa, that make Saddam look like an angel.

I agree with that statement.... however, the numbers are so low because we are targetting them with bombs, tanks, and M-16s..... they have RPGs that suck, some AK-47s that suck, and a shitload of rocks.

ROFL, they got pretty good damn aim with those rocks though man...it can give you quite a headache if nailed by one of them! In all seriousness though, the numbers are low compared to other wars, and when they do get multiple causlties it is usually do to a suicide bombing or something of that sort. The only thing I fear is that we will lose track of who it is we are actually fighting like in vietnam, in which it becomes a menaingless war in which america is stuck. These people have a differnt perspective on life than we do. They are willing to blow themselves up to kill a few of our men, and to them that is a victory. I only hope int he coming years we can help rebuild Iraq, educate these people to the world around them, and get Irai police and military to a point to where they can govern themselves so that are boys may come home.

it drives me INSANE when people are so ignorant that they think that Iraq was responsible for the terrorrist attacks. that seems to be what a lot of bush supporters think, that we are there for revenge for 9/11. whatever happened to looking for osama bin laden? did we just kind of give up on that...wasnt he the one responsible for 9/11? since we couldnt find him, we just decided to go after an innocent country because they "might" have weapons of mass destruction...god, this country sucks

Bottom line, if you think this country sucks, leave. We have a leader who sucks assholes, but the country as a whole is a great country. Iraq wasn't just some innocent country, but there were lies in the reason for attack. It wasn't our country, but our incompitent leader.
