Re: Noise From Computer
well hmmmm... it could be much of anything... a fan with bearings whacked out... the case vibrating ever so slightly which can cause a hum... hard drive freaking out....
first off take off your case cover to rule out the case vibrating....
then with the computer on see if you can pinpoint where the noise is coming from. if its a fan, something as stupid as a piece of paper getting sucked in the front intake and humming sorta like a baseball card in bicycle spokes. lol ive seen it happen!
if its none of the fans, only thing i can think of is maybe a CDROM that is constantly accessing and spinning up... or a hard drive that is doing the same thing at a very high RPM.
Do some diagnostics and get back to us nizzle!

Re: Noise From Computer
Often it has to do with fans. Check to see if they have a lot of dust in them and clean them out.

Re: Noise From Computer
In my experences with humming, it was usually a fan. Don't forget that your power supply has a fan in it also. That was the problem in my computer.

Re: Noise From Computer
I would need to agree, it is either a fan or a CD rom drive that keeps trying to read a disk (this happenend to me just before my burner croaked)

Re: Noise From Computer
If it's a constant hum, certianly a fan, unless it's an electrical hum. If it's electrical, hmm, you may be in trouble. If it is the cd or hdd, it woudl be somewhat intermitent. Use process of elimination if it isn't something obviuos, but the fan in power supply's are the ususal suspect.

Re: Noise From Computer
It sounds like a fan issue.
