I hate the way most decisions are political. I'm not usually one to complain when things don't go my way and I'll be the first to shake hands with someone who beats me out fairly, but goddamn...I'm really unhappy today.

I was auditioning for this part in a play and it came down to me and one other girl last night for the part. So we both went to the callback and I mean, I KNOW when I'm outclassed and by no means was she better than me. I don't want to diss her, but I went home to wait for the phone call and thought to myself that I would be really surprised if she got the part.

Well, the assistant director's been trying to get in her pants since the LAST production, and everyone knows that if I didn't get the part that I'd be willing to work backstage, whereas for her, if she didn't get the part, she didn't want to do anything.

So I got the phonecall and the director apologized profusely and said it was a really hard decision because we both did so well, but they were going with Lyndsay. Then he asked me if I'd work backstage, of course, and I said yes, but I really really don't want to now. I feel kinda insulted and very disappointed and I wouldn't even care if she actually HAD been better than me. I just know it's because Jason's been dying to sleep with her for months and they don't have enough people who are willing to work backstage.

I just want to tell them to go take a hike, that I'll go audition for the play that the city 30 minutes away is putting on. It is not in my nature to be a poorsport but I really feel like this was unfair.

Anyway, thanks for letting me vent. Feel free to use this thread to bitch about whatever you feel like.

No complaints today ...I'm sure I'll have my day in here to vent soon *smiles* hope it gets better for you.

Oh...and btw..I say go for the other part 30 miles away...in no way should your services be used for anything less than you deserve...*smiles* just my opinion.

I know firsthand what it feels like to beleive you are kicked around. You damned yourself by agreeing to work backstage I think, which is the way the world works I'm afraid.

As for me, my complaints are mostly the usual.

Eh, tell her she spells her name stupid and then run the bitch over.

Then keep on truckin' to the other town's auditions....

Don't limit yourself just cause you said you'd do their backstage/dirty work....If you make the other play tell Jason you can't do their BS work and if you don't get cast 30 minutes away then just do what you said you'd do and that's that.

BUT, audition for the other part and hopefully youll get it - if you do, then just say 'so sorry, i know that i said that i would work backtage, but that was before the other production gave me the lead role. bye bye!!!'

Ugh, I've made the mistake of admitting I would work backstage.

I didn't work backstage (this was in highschool) and in fact never tried out for another play. Still won't because I was cast once as a chorus girl (because I can sing), and ya. Not even a side part, lost to people who REALLY can't act. So, your choice, but I'd say since you have options, move on!

See, I'd be at opening night in the front row at this play after telling them they can stick their props in their personal backstage. I'd bring my drunken buddies, several bags of Doritos, and possibly a boombox ...

Just be sure to tell them on the way out that you've been thrown out of better places

You know what I don't like ? Doctors. You're sick.. you go to the doctor... they treat you like you're an idiot, throw some drugs at you and send you on your way. Wake up doctor people, we're _sick_, we need comfort and questions asked in a slow and understandable fashion... and a hug, we need a hug.

Now the advantage to being sick would be coughing all over this Lyndsay woman and making her miss her performance.
