I've had this crap for like 2 months now... I use that CWS Shredder and the first time I got rid of 3 or more files... now I CONSTANTLY get Searchx IT IS UNREAL!! I delete it... log off my name and come back and its there!! I'm going to go crazy... I stopped using IE and switched to firefox..got the SP2 update.. Someone please help me before I go crazy...

That's the site that you need to go to. He's got some software that kills the variations of the CWS trojan. Unfortunately, the page is down at the moment. You could try to find a mirror to it somewhere.

Thats the CWS Shredder... it removes it but doesn't block it... and it comes back

someone told me after removing some crap you need to empty the recycle bin or some of it comes back or some shit

Use CWS Shredder. Then after using CWS Shredder. Run ADAWARE 6, worked for me. All gone and hasnt been back for 4 months now.

After running adaware, use spybot - search and destroy. you can get it here: Spybot @ Download.com

I've done all of that... My family each has their own name on the computer.. if I scan my files and then switch the one of theirs there are even more spyware.. you think I'd have to scan on every single name and then reboot and maybe just maybe it'll be gone?

i have a friend who has quick-searcher.com on her laptop... and it is IMPOSSIBLE to get rid of.... i have tried every step by step on the web that i can find... but there is something hidden that is setting it off... *formats and reinstalls everything himsself without the shit assed HP recovery CD*

You shouldn't have to do it from all the accounts.
Hell if need be just boot into SafeMode and use the Admin account and run CWShredder then.

Get Spyware Blaster it'll help keep spyware out, but not 100% stop it.

man I had the same problem, I tred everything, cw-shredder, ad-aware, search and destroy, booting in safe mode, removing java, everything.
I did some research and asked a bunch of comp. guys I know that do this for a liveing. the coolwebsearch trojen is very tricky and very hard to get rid of, there is no progran that can get rid of it and keep it from comeing back. its a non stop changeing trojan and at the moment nobody can really stop it.
what it did to me after time, it made it impossible to update nortan anti virus and windows, so I ended u[ haveing to back up all my stuff on cds and re-booting the comp. and so far so good.
Dont go to any free game sights because the CWS trojan travles through them and free porn, so watch those things.

Best bet is to save all ur stuff and re-boot. good luck man. and get in touch with me trhough aim or e-mail if u have any questions about this.
