cable internet options
got cable and RR at the new house, no router though. what can i do to get internet on my computer (this one is my dads). would it be possible to just get a cable modem and plug it into the cable in my room, or would I have to get a router and run it through the cable modem thats already plugged in?

Re: cable internet options
If you want to share the modem, probably cheaper and easier just to buy a router.

I agree, I think a regular linksys 4 port router would be easiest. However, it depends on the setup of the house. If you have the extra $$, you could go wireless, so you don't have to string wires all around the house or through the walls. But hey, it all depends on the situation.
