Went to go see it last night...
AWESOME movie! Anyone else seen it yet? For anyone that hasn't, go see it! If you like and appreciate Quentin Tarantino, you will like it.
I don't want to give anything away, but there is a lot of blood and some kick-ass animation

I'm in no rush to see these 2 movies as i have a BIG problem with someone being a greedy bastard and only in it for MORE money. I'm a Tarantino fan like most but it sickens me to know that a typical Tarantino LONG movie is being cut and packaged as 2 seperate movies. Shame on you Miramax and Tarantino.

The movie would have been over three hours long. It's not like it was supposed to be one movie, and then they decided to make two so they wrote more script and shot more scenes. They broke it up so that the casual movie-goer would be able to tolerate sitting in the theatre.

I love Tarantino, but I know that when push comes to shove, I don't really want to sit in a movie house for 3 1/2 - 4 hours.

Then you can wait for it when it comes out on DVD and video. As for the normal cinema going public like myself we have no problem watching a long movie.
It's down to pure greed, plain and simple.

Are you suggesting that the artist gets no commission off of a DVD sale? HA!

Excerpt from the latest Playboy interview w/ Tarantino:

Playboy: Isn't it awkward, splitting a single movie into two parts?

Tarantino: There were no obstacles. I've always designed movies to be malleable. For instance, I've always designed different versions for Asia and for America and Europe. I don't make movies for America; I make movies for the world.

In the last month of shooting, when Harvey Weinstein came to the set and brought up the idea of splitting the movie into two parts, within an hour I had figured out how it would work. We shot two opening sequences, all kinds of stuff. This is my tribute to grind-house cinema, and something was bothering me about releasing a three-hour grind-house movie. It seemed pretentious, like an art film meditation on a grind-house movie. Two 90-minute movies coming out fairly rapidly, one after another -- that's not pretentious, that's ambitious.

Umm, No lol. I'm saying that the normal movie going public can make their own mind up if they can watch a 3 or 4 hour long movie or not and not to be dictated to by a movie studio.
It wasn't a problem before but now it is and now the studio gets 2 amounts of box office money for the one movie. In the real world thats greed.
