Dumb, AIM question, but I need some help
Is there anyway that AIM can be configured so that only people on your list can see that you're online? I searched through all the options but I didn't see it anywhere. Thanks.

On yahoo, it's setup thru your online profile. Each profile can be set individually. I don't use AIM, but you may try if you have a profile that you change online.

Re: Dumb, AIM question, but I need some help
My AIM....edit options...edit preferences...privacy....allow only users on my buddy list....then go to back to main options (far left side) and click IM/chat....click "show accept message from users not on my buddy list.
This seems to have worked so far for me.

Re: Dumb, AIM question, but I need some help
yeah, but doesn't stop anyone using any 3rd party software from seeing you. I use Trillian on my Win XP desktop, because it connects to AIM, Yahoo, MSN, and ICQ all in one. Most my friends use AIM though, and I use iChat on my Apple PowerBook which connects through AIM. I only actually use the AIM program at work, and even on some of those computers I installed Trillian.

Patito, I tried trillian once and HATED it. Really truly hated it. I'm really more of an msn girl, honestly. There are things about AIM I dislike.
What is third party software?

Re: Dumb, AIM question, but I need some help
It's software made by a vendor to communicate with another vendors software. IE, Microsoft makes MSN, first party, Trillian connects to and works with MSN, is thirdparty.
Mad Catz makes controllers for Xbox and PS2, they are a third party vendor.
