So... Since they've started prosecuting end-level music downloaders, I begin to wonder:

Suppose someone were in the habit of regularly downloading pornography he had not properly paid for?

Should that person expect to hear the FEDs come a-knockin at some point in th e future?

Re: Downloading Music, Downloading Porn

You don't think that one of the really big companies (such as Playboy) could decide one day to start going after people through legal action?

Also, why is it no one knows who owns most of the porn?

Actually, Playboy does look for people that host images that are copywrited by them. A guy I knew got a letter from them because he was posting scanned images from their magazine, basically told him to stop or they would sue. He stopped and hasn't heard back from them.

Re: Downloading Music, Downloading Porn

It's Ok. I was just posing a harmless question in return.

I think it would stand to reason that you already know the answer to what you ponder......

If not, then consider:

Do you honestly think the public "expected" to have the feds come knock on their door when they were downloading music? I guess now that they've been stung from music downloading, they should reconsider their porn habits. How about news websites filling their cache? That's copywritten content too right?

How would the public have known the difference (in the beginning) of saving music off the public radio versus downloading music off the public Internet? Same holds true for porn, or any other publicly available content. How is the consumer public to know what's legit and what's not legit. Who's got the time to go double check every little thing they view? Not one person. Not until they get zapped the first time or see others publicly paraded through the nightly news.
