Let's talk shaving, waxing, Nairing...
Grr. I hate shaving. Not to mention the nicks, I hate ingrown hairs.
So I decided to go with Nair. But then, I found it wasn't as close as shaving. So I'd touch up with the razor. But still.....not as nice as I'd like. And grows back fast.
How painful is waxing? I am considering a brazilian wax. But I'd have to drive to the city to get it done. I live in a pitiful small town and would probably give the girl here a heart attack if I asked her to do it.
Sigh. What gives you guys/girls the best results??

Re: Let's talk shaving, waxing, Nairing...
I just shave the necessary areas with a Schick Sensor. It comes back in a week, but I don't mind the shaving. Have to shave the face every couple of days (i let it grow out before shaving, otherwise, i'd have to shave maybe 2 times a day to be all nice and smooth) For the face I use an electric razor and then a mach 3 to clean it all up

With the grain or against it?
I find against the grain is smoother but causes more problems.
And...okay....let me ask and you don't have to answer....do you also shave your ass? If so, HOW??!! (I can't believe I am asking this. I should just stay in denial and pretend we all have smooth hairless asses!)

Re: Let's talk shaving, waxing, Nairing...
Well, it starts with the grain, then against it for extra smoothness.
As for the ass, I'm not 100% sure what you mean. I am smooth from balls to ass (the taint) if that's what you mean

Re: Let's talk shaving, waxing, Nairing...
NAIR!! i love it! and it gets me sooo smooth, well my legs anyhow. I shave the naughty bits. ;-)
Some people can't get NAIR to work as well for them but shaving is a pain in the ass and doesn't go as well for me as NAIRing does. NAIR gets my legs as smooth as silk.
I've never really tried waxing as far as going to a salon, but supposedly it takes a few tries for it to last and start coming in with less hair.
My ass? well i shave whatever is down there with the pubes when i want to be hairless.

Re: Let's talk shaving, waxing, Nairing...
I'll tell the guys in the house one thing, and I'll stick by it until the day I die:
Do NOT Nair your face! Holy frickin' crap, is that a recipe for disaster!
Aside from that nugget of wisdom, I can't say anything about the merits/drawbacks of bikini area deforestation, since I only trim up with an electric trimmer.
I've heard good things about this stuff called "Tend Skin", though, for virtually eliminating razor burn and bumpiness (handy stuff, since the assumption is correct that shaving against the grain does get closer, but does cause slightly more growback discomfort) - an ex of mine swore by it, before she started waxing, and it always kept her business nice and smooth.

I will second the advice above. I learned my lesson after grabbing a huge handful and slapping it carelessly between my legs and the surrounding area. 15 minutes the instructions said to wait. After 10 had gone by, the burning was rather unpleasant and I jumped in the shower, but man, I was tender for a day or two. I am much more careful now.

yah, ive done that too... not the best idea, it was pretty painful. i reccomend the veet bladeless razor. it doesnt leave bumps and the hair takes longer to grow back.

lol, its pretty much like nair, but it takes less time, and it doesnt leave the itchy irritated skin. you put it on, and let it sit for 4 minutes, then then you "shave" it off with this little plastic thing that looks like a razor. and then shower, and thats it. the stuff is awesome.
haha, im a dork, so i went and looked up a link about it here ya go!

Very informative. But if it's new....that means we probably won't see it here in Canada for another five years. I'm going to look for it though, anyway. Thanks again! :wiggle:

Re: Let's talk shaving, waxing, Nairing...
Normally I shave with just soap and water, now for facial shaving I am using shaving cream. I use the Mach3 razor. I have had a bad experience with Nair.. but then again I wasn't reading the instructions. Make sure not to leave the Nair on past the instructions time frame. I was nairing late at night and fell asleep and woke up to this burning sensation.. well it was actually a chemical burn and for about 5 days the spot I was nairing was swollen up and pink, no major damage was done just an annoyance for a 5 or so day period.
I too would like to know some tips and tricks if anyone else has any.
thx.
