I'm doing decently at the play money tables at paradise poker.

Do you think this means I would do decently at low-stakes real money tables?

Re: Online poker--play money performance indicator of real money performance?

I thought so, but I ended up being mostly wrong.

With play money, I do pretty good.

With real money on low-limit games (we're talking .25-1.00 here), I was so paranoid about the money (the kind of paranoia that doesn't exist in a relaxed environment with friends), that I was betting too conservatively and was losing money that way.

The only 2 big bets I made backfired (although 3 of a kind doesn't lose THAT often).

Still, I ended up not having much fun.

I say it's much more fun with friends if it's gonna be real money. Either that, or you've got be a PRO at betting.

It's gonna take a lot more than folding on shitty draws and playing on pocket bullets, etc.

No way at all. People online tend to play quite recklessly with fake money. I mean why not. But in real life, people use quite a different psychological approach. They have one goal, and thats to make as much money as possible.

how you play online (real or fake money) is usually not at all like real life, simply because you cant read the people online

With fake money you have a much easier time playing out a big bluff or say going all in on pocket A/K. Most people have trouble playing aggresively with real money, which end up hurting them.
