In your opinion...have times moved along enough for the girl to pay for a date? What about the first date....if the guy expected you to pay on the very first date, how would that go over with you? Do you think it should be a 50/50 type of deal when you're dating... or do you still believe the guy should always pay?

I'm always happy to pay for a girl, however I had one night where this girl I liked paid for my movie ticket at the start of the night before I had a chance to go get the tickets myself, and after that told me she was treating me to a night out. It was so cool of her and was an awesome night.

i dunno... i think if the chick has a job, and wants to pay for a date, I am not going to stop her. I have the same things to pay for as she probably does, so why shouldnt it be a split thing? Of course you are gonna have the chicks who refuse to pay for anything who are... well... basically spoiled it seems.

*shrugs* if a girl wants to go 50/50 every once in a while, or swap off... fine by me. im not gonna complain. :wiggle:

I was telling a friend that after dealing with my brother i can see how it can be hard for a guy to continuously keep paying for date after date. If you are going on a first date and all that a lot it gets expensive! However, it would be nice if a guy paid every once in a while, but i'm usually happy to pay for myself....however if i'm not being paid for it's kinda annoying to pay for him or to pay more than the other person, but whatever i'll be the chivalrous one!

Call me old-fashioned or chauvinistic or what have you, but I think that the guy should always pay. I was raised to respect women and part of that respect is not expecting her to pay on a date. I also open doors for women, stand up when they leave the table, and NEVER ask about their weight.

I'd pay the first few months or so after that 50/50 or something . Unfortunetly I have no money tree growing on my back.

I never let guys pay for me for the first few dates. I pay my own dinner bill and movie ticket, drinks, whatever. I would feel somewhat obligated if they paid for me and I hate that feeling. Plus, I'm just really damn independent and make good money, so why should I expect the guy to foot the bill? If things progress past the first few dates, and he wants to pay, then that's all good, but I'll be returning the favour on a regular basis.

I think whoever asked the other person out should pay. I usually pay when my girlfriend and I go out, but mainly because she drives 3 hours to come see me, I want to make up for the gas and time she spent driving. If she's around for awhile, she'll usually buy me lunch or if we go out for dessert or rent a movie she'll pay for that. I'll pick up the more expensive bills, when we go to the theater or out for dinner or the like. If we go out with a bunch of people, then we usually pay our own bills.

On the first date it really does depend, if I feel an attraction with the person I will pay for the date, happily!. Now I am not saying that I won't pay for a date when I am not attracted the person, I think guys should pay for the date.

I have been on many dates where I do not feel an attraction to the person and personally I am just a bit tired of shelling out 75.00 - 100.00 dollars on a movie, dinner, pool / putt putt / etc, and gas for an evening that really wasn't very enjoyable and may have been akward for the both of us. My two cents.
