Ok guys, I am getting a new laptop

...for my wife...which will also be used by my kids. It will be a new Dell Studio 15 running Vista Home Premium.

This will be the first time I/she will ever touch Vista. Downgrading to some copied over XP might be possible but now that Vista has Sp1, I wanna give it a shot. So I now need some suggestions, some "stuff" ....from the gurus here.

I first of all need FOR Vista the following

1) MS Office/ Project/ Visio (Latest will be nice) (Can I just d/l them from MS site and only need keys or do I need the whole nine yards?? I am really scared of those shitty 100 MB each d/l from public hosts)

Nice to have
1) Adobe Acrobat professional
2) I have Adobe PS CS3 in my XP laptop. Will this work over Vista?
3) I need some s/w to convert my Digicam steady supply of pics into DVD movies (with background music and the works). I use Proshow Gold for it which also I have for XP. Is it considered good for Vista?

Dell Forums suggest re-installing Vista fresh in the new laptop once I get it (still a few days away) but is it really required. I can uninstall any bloatware that Dell might have stuck in, right?

errr not really sure about this but if you install vista it will probably give an option to get rid of everything in that laptop, unless its an empty harddrive. I think Microsoft also provides just buying the keys for office and all that jazz. About below programs from vista, maybe you can find decent vista versions. Shouldn't be too hard to manage vista anyway besides the fact everything or most things is continue or cancel. And have a lot of ram...

Yes, your best bet is a clean install. You won't be able to completely uninstall all the bloatware.
