Re: Bush, Democrats Bicker Over Soaring Energy Prices

So everyone was all like, if we allow offshore drilling we won't see a price drop for another 10 years. Then Bush was like, dude, lets drill, fuck this ban. All of a sudden oil drops 9 bucks over night.

Yeah, shortage alright. Yeah, nothing to do with speculators.

Fucking ultimate BS.

HAHA, You are not talking any intelligence!!!

Now if The Democratic Congress where to lift the Ban, then OIL would NEver drop 10-20 Dollars a barrel!!!

I am serious!! Congress Knows All!!!

And Even though Senator (President Hopeful) Obama says we must Get away from Non US Oil, drilling in American Water's or Land, by American Companies, is NOT the Answer!!!

Ask Crawler!! He will give you a 20 minute dissertation on why this is flawed!!!

(Yes, I Have been drinking, and this is supposed to be sarcastic!!!)

Instead of starting ANOTHER thread about energy, I thought I'd just post this latest flourish of Al Gore genius here:

Will someone shoot this alarmist, fear mongering fuck hole already?

In a speech at Washington's Constitution Hall, Gore touched on an array of the nation's current woes, saying the economic, environmental and national security crises are all related.

"I don't remember a time in our country when so many things seemed to be going so wrong simultaneously," Gore said.

To begin to fix all the problems, Gore said, "the answer is to end our reliance on carbon-based fuels."

Gore called on the country to produce all of its electricity from renewable and carbon-free sources in 10 years, a goal he compared to President Kennedy's challenge for the country to put a man on the moon in the 1960s.

Gore chastised those who have proposed opening new areas for oil drilling as a solution to U.S. energy problems.

Re: Bush, Democrats Bicker Over Soaring Energy Prices

There are other factors in to why Oil has dropped.

One, And I truely believe it is related, is the Ban Bush removed. Even though Congress refuses to lift the Ban. (Yet, they cry more then the Republicans about us importing so much Oil), also, a part of the issue is that China had greatly increased their imports of Oil, to store so there would be no crisis during the Olympics, as well as Adminijohn (Iran's Leader) spewing BS about closing the Persian Gulf.

I agree with AL Gore, we need to get off of Oil, it must be costing him serious Money to waste all that energy he does in his 20,000 sqft mansion he has!!!

Oh I hear ya mang - tried to tell peeps on this board the same thing a week ago: http://forums.webrats.com/post2890596-16.html

...but noooooo - the liberal contingent gets all up in my grill about how, "drilling isn't the answer, man - we gotta just get off oil". Or better yet, "we need to give subsidies for alternate fuel cars instead of making the fat cats richer" (there's your tax dollars at work).

So...offshore drilling ban lifted, hell, just talked about being lifted, and prices go down - JUST LIKE I SAID.

Fucking latter-day commies don't wanna listen to teh free-market jebus until a week later lo and behold he was right after all.

Will someone SOMEONE SOMEONE!!!!
SHOOT THIS FUCK ALREADY:

Gore compares offshore drilling to invasion of Iraq

In a surprise appearance at Netroots Nation — which apparently was the worst-kept secret in Austin, Texas — former Vice President Al Gore followed up a speech by Nancy Pelosi by laying out a narrative on climate change and the energy crisis that seems ready-made for the Obama campaign to download.

“If you look at the seriousness of the climate crisis, you see how it ties to the economic crisis and the national security threat that we face,” he said. “200 billion dollars are being sent overseas just from oil.”

“The idea that we can drill our way out of this is just so absurd,” he said, comparing the push for offshore oil drilling — which has gained popularity and put environmentalists on the defense — to dealing with a hangover by having another drink.

“The defenders of the status quo are the ones who have dug us into this hole,” he said, commenting that Americans have been “so often fooled into finding a remedy for a problem" that has nothing to do with the problem at hand — pointing to the invasion of Iraq when America was attacked by terrorists in Afghanistan as an example.

“The engines of distraction and the great concentrated power of communication that you’ve seen turned on this issue or that issue is already hard at work," he says. "They will say we can’t switch away from oil."
“We have to switch our electricity generation system,” he says, noting that changing transportation fuels will take longer, before reiterating his plan to ensure that “100 percent of our electricity [comes] from renewable sources and carbon-constrained fuels over the next 10 years.”

"It is not partisan, it is focused on this single objective," he says. "we are trying to mobilize ten million grassroots activists.”

In response to a question about whether he'd join an Obama administration as climate czar, he says he'd rather "focus on trying to enlarge the political space in which political officials address this climate crisis ... I have seen how important it is to develop a base of support.

This is why I hate CONGRESS!!!!

They Talk so much shit, and say they care about the consumer, yet they only care about whom is paying them the most!!!

Let the American Citizen have a little relief from the Gas prices. And during this time, create intelligent spending projects to create more efficient renewable power production plants, as well as tax breaks for those that switch over early!!!

No, Congress cannot work together, except when collecting the check.

Re: Bush, Democrats Bicker Over Soaring Energy Prices

Offshore drilling is BS. That will just make oil men here richer, instead of buying it from the middle east. The price wont drop to much because of greed. And there's only enough oil there for a few years at our rate of consumption.

Plus the kicker will be the oil companies will probably just sell it to other nations who are willing to pay for it.

Just like wood. WE sell most of the wood we cut and mill here to other countries, Then buy milled product from Canada for domestic use.

And whats up with the whole when A barrel of oil goes up in price, It's reflected at the pumps almost immediately? But when the price of a barrel drops, it takes days to slowly meander it's way to the price at the pumps.

Greed... all about the money, no one republican, Or democrat cares about the people, just money.

Which is why I cringe when I hear people harp on "rich oil men".

You think Algore truly gives a shit about the environment? Come on

Look at T. Boone Pickens. Probably one of the most notorious corporate raiders of the 80's and the quintessential "oil man". This asshole is buying up water rights like crazy! He's putting up wind farms like crazy! He's hedging bets on LNG (liquid natural gas)! You think he's doing this out of LOVE for the environment? Hell no! It's all about the almighty dollar.

Pickens is buying up land that sits above an aquifer that encompasses a huge portion of the midwest. He's tapping it outside Amarillo TX and plans on piping it 250 miles to Dallas to sell. He's putting up windfarms to run power along the water pipeline into Dallas to provide electricity. Why? Because he's having a hard time "convincing" people to sell their land to him to run his pipeline, but he found a loophole in legislation that allows for imminent domain if the pipeline is used to run alternative power alongside it. It's a win win on T. Boone's investment.

Same with Algore. Money for speaking engagements, investment opportunities in futures for alternative energy...

Mother nature can be your bitch too if you know how to hustle her right

Re: Bush, Democrats Bicker Over Soaring Energy Prices

Lazer - You are only partially correct.

1st - If WE (USA) drill off of our shores and in other AMERICAN Territory, then we are NOT importing Oil!!! That is a Huge Democrat complaint with no solution (We cannot drill in US Territory) - Also, having MORE oil provided in the stream of things, means we are not LOW, and thus Supply increases, demand decreases and PRICES DROP. (Economics 101).

2nd - Our Wood is Exported because the companies make more money then selling it to US people, and we import it because it is less expensive.
Part of this is due to UNIONS! Part is due to Greed (your point), and yet Americans are WORKING and making MONEY. That part is the fine line.

3rd - Oil goes up, prices go up, oil goes down, prices stay the same - The companies use the Supply theory. Congress Backs them, so we as consumers are SCREWED!

4th - You are 100% correct about our corrupt Congress!! No matter the party, they want Money and POWER!!! And will destroy anyone to get it!

You really think that since the oil companies are going to let the price drop to a reasonable rate because we are getting it here? they have us hooked on $4 a gallon gas. I doubt we would see it go under $3 a gallon. Supply and demand can be altered. OPEC does it daily. And oil companies arent going to drill here unless it's more profitable to THEM.
And as for unions. I doubt it. I actually see a lot of non union companies paying more per hour than union companies these days.

No, there is no way we will see $3.00 a gallon again. But my point is that WHY should WE (average American's) Suffer these High prices while Congress gets it's shit together???

We know it will take those jackasses years to come up with a good plan. They will bitch ad argue for a couple years, then when they are about to be voted OUT, they will come up with a solution.

Lets see some relief NOW!
