Got a service call for this today.

Funny thing is that it was nowhere as bad as it looks. A castle nut fell off and the ball joint fell out. I just lifted the front end, lined it back up and put a new castle nut on. Works prefect again. I only posted it because of the reactions that it got. Everybody in the area had to come over and take a look.
My dispatch said that it wouldn't steer.

It's like a cross-eyed truck, though I guess that would really have to be the headlights.

Nope, its Airport Way and Mason in Portland. Why did you think it was in Wilsonville?

Re: We might have a problem.

I remember one time when wheeling, a guy bent the tie-rod, and drag link on his Scout, and the tires ended up doing just what that truck did. What followed, was me hooking me tow-strap up to the tie-rod, and attempting to un-bend the tie-rod. I actually got it pretty straight, and the drag link just followed--it helped that my truck was 250 to 1 in low-low range. We then took my Hi-lift jack handle, and duct taped it to the tie-rod, and used the whole entire role. The guy actually drove close to 20 miles home, doing probably 60 at times! One of the crazier wheeling stories, from back in the day.

Re: We might have a problem.

Wilsonville is part of my territory, but I rarely go down there. We have 2 other field techs at the Wilsonville shop. I work out of the Portland shop. My normal area is Clark County, Portland, Clackamas, highway 26 up to Mt. Hood, North Oregon Coast (Cannon Beach to Astoria) and highway 30 through Scapoose and St. Helens. I sometimes go outside those areas, but only when someone else can't get to it.

Re: We might have a problem.

zpr, back in my younger days, I had a similar problem with not so easy to fix results. Some jerkoff dug a ditch across a small dirt road. I hit the ditch doing about 25 mph; my tires were looking just like your pic, but I destroyed the entire front end of my '77 Toyota 2WD pickup. It took a few days to round up the parts and another couple of days for me to install them.

Glad your problem was easily and quickly solved!

Re: We might have a problem.

I noticed the wheels right off, how could no one notice?

Glad it was an easy fix.

But i like Crawler's fix better.

Re: We might have a problem.

I should have tried the duct tape thing. Would have been much more fun.

I'm surprised that nobody noticed the real problem.

Yeah, go to Europe and talk trash about the Ford. It's all BMW, Mercedes, VW and Euro Ford there. In my experiences being there, and in the performance sector at least.

But yeah, that is one goofy looking truck with the wheels like that!
