Hah, so my adventures in verizonland continue. Apparently they fail to tell you that when you upgrade without waiting for that new every two thing, they automatically block you from upgrading AGAIN until the two years. So being the typical guy that I am, I don't really take care of my phone too much and drop it a lot.

This freaking samsung 740...you know, the kind that flip around both ways...it starts flickering and doing weird shit like immediately after a year that I got it (read off warranty) so now I had to get another phone at full retail price. After a little research with the apple people and AT&T's ridiculous pricing for international roaming and long distance etc, I decided that the iphone, although totally pimp, was just not for me. So at ~340 bucks retail I am now pimping the LG envy 2 like my sister got a few weeks ago....I still say it looks like a fucking calculator. But all the other smart phones are only "usable" with a ~50 a month internet email etc BS that I don't need. I'm already too fucking attached to my cell phone.

About the only thing I really like about this phone other than the qwerty I can't do without any more is that it has navigation. So now, my drunk ass knows where I am ALL the time....

too bad about that samsung...I always thought that was a cool design, and actually chose that one first but ended up trading it in a couple days later for an enV because I felt like it was dropping my connection too easily. I guess form does not always rule over function...

Having said that I do like my enV...you should dig your env2 as well - you're right once you have the qwerty pad you just can't live without it. Sorry the design is not all that for you though...why did you not get that Samsung Glyde that CD got a week or so ago, it looks pretty cool...or was it another one of those phones like the Voyager where you need the 50/month intraweb to use it?

I think Vz's internet charges are ridiculous - I pay a little more than that 50 a month for my home cable internet connection with the smokin' download speed - I'll be damned if I'd pay that much for cell phone internet, I'll just use my laptop with the Sprint aircard that my work pays for

I went in for the Voyager or the Glyde....both do not work with my north america's choice plan. Something about their networks and blah blah blah. I asked her how they charge people who roam on regular plans with those phones. She said since they are paying for roaming, they get to hop on other people's networks. I felt like punching the chick in the cunt so bad, but I realized it wasn't her fault.

son of a bitch...Verizon is in the process of buying out Alltel, so I get to put up with this horseshit now. Alltel has had the best plans and customer service I've found of any of the providers, and now that's all gonna go to shit.

Im gonna have to do some looking around when I get home to find the lesser of the evils for a provider.

actually fp, I've been real happy with Vz - the network is great & my plan is pretty flexible for me & my kid (family share plan) with unlimited text & pix messaging, I unlike juan however don't do a whole lot of calling from outside the US so that whole roaming thing does not affect me much at all. I have not really seen a huge difference in providers - they all have their good & bad points like anything else.

I had a Cingular phone when they first bought AT&T, like back in 2000, and they started jacking my bill up, saying I wasn't paying my bill. It got up to $700, and I kept sending them cancelled checks showing that I had paid my bill. They threatened to bring the military into the matter, so I got my badger after them. Fuckers told me they would just cancel the account and to not contact them again. I never had to pay anything.

I just got to looking, Cinn and I are looking at getting a family plan when I get back, she's tired of Sprint. Everyone has the same prices for the same plans, it looks like. And I have to admit, I do like the Samsung Glyde, it looks pretty. But I will give them a fair shot, especially if they just absorb Alltel's customers, instead of making you get a whole new account.

facepeeler: I'm with you on liking alltel; the customer service experiences I've had have always went very well. I guess I'll have to get used to the VZ thing myself.

Juan: cool phone! I like the layout; I've never had a qwerty keyboard, but I'm looking into it for my next phone.

Yeah, VW has decent service and stuff, it's just the pricing tricks they do that get to me. Great reception and the only phone company out there that even had the option of no fees for long distance to canadia us or mex and also no roaming fees.

It's a damn damn shame that Verizon phones won't work with T-Mobile because that is the phone I want!!! I know envy you, Juan, for having the Env2! :(

I don't think Verizon has an unlimited text message package. At least I couldn't find one.

If that's the case, Im not gonna go through them. Cinn and I text way too much to not have unlimited. If that's the case, Im looking at most likely AT&T, because that's our only option.
