Thoughts about concealed carry

I may take a new job requiring me to carry a concealed weapon. This isn't a big deal, as I carry concealed most every where I go. But, with this being a job requirement, I have to rethink my weapon of choice.

Normally, I carry a Keltec 32; the weapon is small, weighs 10 ounces loaded, and has a total of 8 rounds; I carry an additional 7 round mag in my pocket. The weapon is easy to hide; I can carry the gun while wearing my swim trunks. It's a great, up close and personal, summer weapon. (BTW, I cary a Keltec 9mm at other times)

If I take the new job I've applied for, they request I carry a 9mm; this isn't such a big deal, but I'm a small statured man and the double stack mag weapon they prefer just doesn't work well for me.

I don't have to use their weapon of choice, but it could create some problems if shit hits the fan. Any ideas on how I can make everyones life easier, safer, and protect myself??

Re: Thoughts about concealed carry

When I had to carry concealed for my job I used a Beretta Cougar 8000. It was light weight and alot smaller than the M9 model. If you are comfortable with your Keltec 9mm and it works for you and the company doesn't mind I would use what you already have.

Re: Thoughts about concealed carry

This is what I use:
On tac belt, or under a jacket if I'm working, sig 226 in 9mm with extra two 17rn mags loaded with federal hydroshocks or remington golden sabers. Everyone else has Glock .40's. with the same ammo.

Normal carry
Glock 36 slim line .45
Nighthawk 1911 .45 commander
Both loaded with DPX corbon 185 gr+P

I don't think too many people could pass our monthly qualifications with a Keltec.

I like milt sparks holsters and comptac holsters. If the holsters are uncomfortable buy some molehair (look where foot care products like insoles are sold) and form in around the areas that come into contact with your body. Also use VERY stiff belts or belts made to be used with a holster. I also now mainly buy slacks that have the hidden expandable waist ban. With jeans, get the waist 2in larger and don't carry if it dose not fit right, you will hate it. Look at 5.11 over shirts.

Good luck, this topic is huge on other le/gun forums...

Re: Thoughts about concealed carry

Thanks to both of you for your thoughts. I carry the keltec because of its light weight. Also, for what I was doing, the small size (weapon and caliber) was a last resort deal.

jasefm: I've seen many of your other posts; your thoughts carry much weight. Thanks for your input!
