but what about the price of natural gas? No, it's not winter, but natural gas is used to heat water in many homes, powers clothes dryers, provides for cooking, and motivates ac units (I know, it's weird).

What are you doing to minimize this additional energy cost in your home??

My HOA pays my gas out of my dues. Run the dryer, cook, heat all for one flat rate. They will most likely raise it again next year.

Re: Yeah, gasoline is high...

we started using those oil filled electric heaters. we set our gas heat low then when we are in the room we turn on the heater. it raises our electric bill 20 a month and lowers our gas 40 a month so its well worth it. and its way more comfy then we would be able to afford otherwise. and when we are just sittin on the couch we usually have a fleece blanket on which is warm, comfy, and romantic so it works the best all around.

Re: Yeah, gasoline is high...

For my family we dont have city water. We use a well that is solar powered along with a solar powered preheater for the hot water tank. We are about to get a tankless water heater. We still use a gas furnace and stove but it doesnt cost that much to use.

Re: Yeah, gasoline is high...

We don't have the same heating "problem" here on the American Riviera. We have issues with the heat. I don't have AC in my house, but last year I thought my fuzzy fat little cat was going melt away. She was completely boneless for 2 months. So, I'm going to buy her a small air conditioning unit. I can only hope it doesn't cost a ton to run, but I only need it for two months, really.

Re: Yeah, gasoline is high...

I have the heat lower and now that summertime and the roasting temperatures are here, I'll adjust the ac up and use my ceiling fan. I've thought about the tankless water heater; when my current standard water heater goes out, I'll step up to the tankless.

Re: Yeah, gasoline is high...

ya id like to go for the hybrid tank less but our water heater is only a few years old. the hybrids are nice because its semi instant hot water like a full size tank but it only keeps like 3 gallons or so heated so its almost as efficient as an on time one but theres not substantial time waiting for hot water.

It shouldn't be too bad. A small 4K to 5k unit draws about 5 AMPS ~ 600 watts. You can save by setting the fan to low and don't set the temp up to far so the compressor doesn't stay on all the time.
