I need suggestions for a powerful Spyware monitor and removal. Cost is no object and the power and professional quality should be comprable to Norton for viruses.

Thankyou in advance and I hope this is the right forum, I wasn't sure whether to put it in the Programming or Request forum

Re: Problems with Spyware

stop downloading all the porn and you wont have so much spyware!

on a more meaningful note: Spybot search and destroy works wonderfully. I use that in combination with Adaware and I dont see anything strange going on with popups, etc.

Re: Problems with Spyware

Hi,
I use Spybot. Frequent updates and seems to work.
One word of warning. Here comes a sentence or two !

Be careful where you download it (or anything else) from.
There are/have been fake download sites.
I have these listed:

SpyBot Search & Destroy 1.2 – This is what I use.
http://security.kolla.de/
www.download.com
www.spybot.safer-networking.de
http://spybot.eon.net.au

I think download.com is the safest start.

Keep safe

Donald

Re: Problems with Spyware

That free online virus checker is just what I needed. My antivirus software just stopped updating and I was a little worried that I might have a virus. Thanks for the link.

Re: Problems with Spyware

Use Mozilla for majority of browsing. Don't delete IE though, some sites don't work well with any other browser, unfortunately.

Re: Problems with Spyware

Adaware is one of the best but there are some spyware programs out there they just require a good ol' format C to do the trick.

Re: Problems with Spyware

I use both Adaware and Spybot and they usually do the job but if in doubt just format your hard drive after you've backed up anything important.

Re: Problems with Spyware

I use Ad-Aware, Spybot, Pest Patrol, along with google's toolbar to prevent any other pop-ups. Seems to have stopped most of the crap I used to get from going to porn sites, and other sites that have a crap load of pop-ups with self-installing software.

Re: Problems with Spyware

Alright thanks folks that seemed to clear off alot of it. There are still some casino programs it didn't pick up after running the free ones so I'm considering going for the pay ones.

Or just getting a really nasty firewall eh

Re: Problems with Spyware

another good program if you get slammed with something bad is hijackthis
you can find it at this site but it is not for those who dont know what they are doing, you can inadvertently mess your whole machine up.

Re: Problems with Spyware

HijackThis is good if you have an idea what you are doing.
