Today, I had a freaking dummy from hell stop by the hospital for some pre-op interviews and questions. During the talk, he tells the nurse he would like to kill himself, but only after killing about 50 other people. Then, the idiot shows her a pistol and says he can do it.

Next thing I know, we're moving people away, sealing the area, and calling for 5-O. They would like the SWAT boys to come play! Needless to say, the guy surrendered his weapon, we press charges, and his family is pissed off because we WILL NOT perform surgery on him next week!

After work, I went to a local Mexican restaraunt with some co-workers and downed some beers. What the hell is going on when you can't go to a hospital without some idiot pulling this stuff???

There is a great problem with the way states handle their mental patiences. It's lucky if they got him before he actually killed somebody. Unfortunately, in the case of Sylvia Seegrist now serving 3 life sentences, people had to die before she was put away for good. You'll note her similar rantings.

My brother works for PA Hospital in Philly. He told me how the cops use to just drop the nut cases off at admissions and then the security guards had the fun of getting them up to the Psychiatric ward. He was transfered to the PA mental institute until it closed as a security supervisor but said it was actually better there since they didn't handle the patients. He's working in CIS or something of that nature now.

Even here in the South! Yes, he got lots of attention, but it really impacted those waiting for their day surgery procedures (he was there for a pre-op interview) and our ER. Surrounding rooms were evacuated for protection of patients and staff. Licu: I agree with your assessment. Our nation doesn't have a clue about what to do with those suffering from a mental illness. Lucky13:** yes, the weapon was loaded. It was a small caliber handgun with seven rounds (one in the chamber). In addition, he had two knives with him. I wasn't concerned with the knives, as they were in his pocket and he is wheelchair bound. It wasn't like he could make a quick getaway if he had started firing......
