Metalcore is a decent genre. It is described as a mix of hardcore punk and metal. There are more good bands here, but they tend to get tiring. Lots of screaming in metalcore.

Melodic Death Metal is a sub genre of death that is easier to get into. The vocals are more easily understood and not as harsh.
