Re: So... Gas is approaching $4 gallon
mstad and I also quit smoking. That may be why I haven't really noticed the gas prices killing my wallet. I was spending about a gallon of gas in smokes a day.
And fmb, if all goes as planned I'll have alternating 2 and 4 day weekends. work a mon-thur one week then tues-fri the next. Even better!

Re: So... Gas is approaching $4 gallon
I try to not go anywhere unless it is necessary. I have some medical issues so I have to be careful not to be out in the heat as much as possible. I over heat fast. Lately here, it has been very hot so I try to stay indoors as much as I can. Gas is another reason I don't really go anywhere. I have no money ( only enough to pay the bills) and even though I'm married, it seems like I'm always alone. SUCKS.....

Re: So... Gas is approaching $4 gallon
Being alone stinks. Having no money stinks! At least you can hang out with us online folks here!
At least you're saving some money on gas by not riding around so much!

Re: So... Gas is approaching $4 gallon
I have SUV's I would love to sell, but the market is Dead now.
The Camaro will Never be sold, even if Gas where $10.00 a gallon, I would still drive it.
For work, I drive 17 miles one way. In the Summer, it is the Harley 3 or 4 days a week, then either the Camaro or Magnum. The Tahoe is driven when I go out for brews.
In the Winter, it will be the Magnum Daily, unless it snows more the a foot. then the Tahoe.
Adjust? Yes, we need too.
But if you think the good Ol USA is having troubles, watch the news for other countries!! Most have it far worse.

Re: So... Gas is approaching $4 gallon
Shits all relative. Everyone will adjust.
Every home I've bought in the last 5 years has been an increase in my mortgage payments (I shit, then I adjusted). Just bought my wife a new car b/c her lease was up and instead of the payments staying the same (like I wanted) or getting lower (like I preferred) they increased by about $65/month. Guess what? We're adjusting. My boat is out of the water half of the year. Now it is in and I have a monthly slip fee. We adjust. It's summer, so I have to have someone clean the hull of all the seaweed growth, so that's another $75/month. Had to can my pool cleaner and get a new one that is costing an extra $10/month than before. I'm going to adjust.
Sure there are areas to cut back in. And contrary to popular belief; I DON'T have a shit load of money. So sure I can keep the boat out of the water, clean my own pool, refinance, and a whole lot of other shit. But guess what? I'm not going to. I'm just going to adjust.
I don't buy nearly as many DVD's as I used to. Surfing doesn't cost shit. Paddleboarding doesn't cost shit. We open windows more than using the AC. We make sure lights are out in rooms we don't use.
Bottom line is that if you want to do what you want to do; you're going to find ways to continue to fucking do them.
Life's too short to sit around and worry about shit, especially gas prices.

YaMon: I don't see your post as a rant. You're having fun, adjusting to the costs, but adjusting behavior (do some things yourself, cut out lights) to meet your needs. Sounds like a pretty good, little plan.

Thanks bro, but honestly there isn't a whole lot of "self discipline" to my plan. The major reason I haven't been buying DVD's anymore is because I have a pretty comprehensive library of the greats, and seriously I look at the new releases that come out every Tuesday and 98% look like shit anymore. Not sure what's happened to cinema (or maybe to me), but there really is a major lacking in originality, creativity and down right (and most importantly) watch-ability.
And the turning the lights off shit just seems like a no brainer to me. You're not in the room? WTF you need a TV or light blaring for?
