I don't think theres anyway it will ever live up to the Doom name. I acknowledge that the game will look good, but that ultimately means less monsters on screen at a time(meaning you'll only get to fight one monster at a time, BUT THE MONSTER WILL LOOK REAL GOOD!). If you want fast fun action like Doom try out Serious Sam(and older game now, but what it lacks in looks it will make up for in fun). Of course, I'll happily eat my words if this game can blow me out of my chair like the original Doom did.

Serious Sam is a great game! I picked that one up when it originally came out. The graphics were pretty good but the gameplay was amazing! Those damn double rocket launcher packing scorpions were a pisser.

I haven't seen specs released yet but the Nvidia GeForce FX is the recommended video card and I hear the requirements are going to be high. You can preorder it from two sources that I am aware of:

Sadly, such first person shooters usually suck up so much of my computing power that when there's a room full of baddies I crash. Besides, I doubt anything can live up to DOOM 2 last level, all cheats turned on and 300 monsters shooting at you at once before you blow them up and await more arrivals. Those were the days

Has anyone heard of ZDoom and ZDaemon ? You still need the original files from doom, but you can play with mouse support and at higher resolutions (ZDoom) and online against other people (ZDaemon, built off of ZDoom)! I haven't been able to try this yet since I've got a ton of work to do this weekend, but hopefully tonight or tomorrow I will, and I'll let you know how it goes.

I've just pre-ordered my copy from gamelay (as it has a ltd edition box - or so it says). Been waiting for this game far to long.

Now the questtion is do I book to day of work to play it?

hahahaha. Nice! My friend wanted to do that last year when Madden 2003 came out. It's just about time for him to start up again over this years Madden.
