Okay so as a kid I remember hearing this sond in an old vynil LP my dad used to play. Recently I heard it on a commercial for the movie drumline or something like that and I can't fucking figure out what the name of the song is. My mom told me it might have been Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Orchestra, but I downloaded a bunch of his sonds and still no luck.
So the best way for me to get you guys to help me is to give you this link to an online virtual keyboard thing
The only thing I heard in the Trailer was "The Flight of the Bumblebee" by Rimsky Korsakow which in band uses Trumpets for the melody. It's a common practice piece for Trumpet players along with "The Carnival of Venice" so herb probably played it but I don't know if he ever put in on Vinyl. As far as I know the original was actually for flute but it was the favorite of one of the other Philadephia tuba players I knew back in the 60's.

hey licu ... i wonder if that is the same fella (mendez) i heard years ago ...
i keep lookin' for the airhose ... i couldn't figure out when/where/how he took a breath !
hey , i did find a herb alpert song i forgot all about ...
i looked at the song credits for the movie "drumline" .
not knowing your dad's age/tastes in music (but taking a guess) i came up with this possibility :
the ventures ; apache .

i heard my first venture's song when i was about 8 .
here's a couple of the ventures more popular songs :
yep ... two groups , same song ... the tornados version was the first record i owned ... i was 7 . it featured a farfisa "keyboard/organ" , a unique sound for the day .
i dunno , i hear some similarities to the original startrek theme .
