not exactly hills' "science diet" ...
i have two cats , neither one cares a lot for "people food" .
rancid (the flatulent) likes kung pao chicken with broccoli and my killer chili ... she does not seem to mind the "hot" .
harvey (the short bus kitty) likes coconut and the crispy breading/skin off fried chicken (he really doesn't care for the chicken meat itself) .
my dad had a dog that ate onions and garlic like they were apples ... come to think of it , he liked the apples too .
does anybody else have pets with "unusual" tastes in foods ?

Re: not exactly hills' "science diet" ...
my parents' dog's favorite treats are carrots, grapes and radishes. the only thing i've found that he won't eat i think is pickles.
yesterday i had a tiny bit of butter that i left out on the counter and when i came home the little wrapper thing around it was all that was left. i swear one of my cats has that disorder where the stomach never feels full. she'll eat all her food then go try to eat all of the pug's food. i'm constantly kicking her out of his room

Re: not exactly hills' "science diet" ...
My Dad's German shorthair eat anything including rubber bands and panty hose while his Brittany spaniel went crazy over fish.
Cat's seem to be nuts when it comes to food choice. We had 7 cats over the last 24 years of which we only bought the first and the rest got adopted. One of the street cats my wife took in use to love pizza.
Most cats are probably a pain when it comes to changing cat food brands. But, the worse was a cat my Dad bought my daughter when we lived in a apartment that didn't allow pets. He'd only eat one partcular variety that 9-lives made. He'd even turn up his nose at it if it didn't come from one paticular batch. Apparently the had two different plants using different fonts on their labels. If it didn't have the right printing on the label he wouldn't eat it. I don't know but maybe he could read the labels??

Re: not exactly hills' "science diet" ...
our cat will only eat dry cat food, specifically, fish-flavored dry cat food.
She won't eat any kind of wet food, or anything not fish-flavored.
I don't understand it - I mean we have tried giving her all kinds of different foods; even some stuff that I thought looked tasty for humans.
She is a weird one - but cheap to keep fed!!!

heh heh I just remembered that my old cat Cleo (RIP I still miss you kitty) used to eat my cigarettes.
I swear if I would toss one to her she'd scarf it like it was made of tuna.
loved that nutty cat.

Ha! I was going to mention that. Cleo was a fun little dude.
My cat is enormous, and will pretty much eat anything. I give her Bonito flakes that I buy at Japanese markets. It's cheaper that way, and they have almost no calories, so I don't feel so bad about giving her lots of them. She hasn't missed the Chuck wagon too many times.

Re: not exactly hills' "science diet" ...
My old dog loved coyote turds, but not squirrel turds. We'd take him with us on our hikes, and sure enough he couldn't get enough of the coyote stuff. Problem was the drive back home....fucker would let some farts rip that would peel the chrome off a cholo's lowrider bike.
He'd eat any and all people food except for stuff with lemon or lime in it.

Re: not exactly hills' "science diet" ...
My cat Rofl will scarf the shot out of some reeses cereal, pizza, and popcorn flavored jelly bellies. My other cat lol will only eat dried cat food, or the gravy from wet cat food, nothing else. Mouse will eat anything. My kids left the peanut butter out and the stupid kitty got her head stuck in it. I've seen that cat eating the charcoal left in our fireplace.

Re: not exactly hills' "science diet" ...
i can understand the charcoal bit .
it's related to them (and dogs) eating grass and other roughage .
a buddy of mine has a cat that likes pumpkin and apple pie .
