Somehow my windows media player stopped playing sound and the video is very choppy. Flash still works normally and all windows sounds work normally, it is only the windows media player that has the problem. Any ideas? Thanks.

For whatever reason, it is not showing up on my add/remove programs list, and when I try to reinstall, it tells me it's already installed.

I use Windows Media Player Classic. To me, it is the best movie player out there. It will display the movie in true pixel resolution. If you want full screen, just maximize the window. You can easily make screencaps with it as well. Other neat features too...If you don't have it, look in my rules sticky in the hotness, there is a link to the K-Lite codec pack. WMPC is included with it.

look for K-lite codec pack in add/remove programs. Try to find the option to remove WMPC. Then reinstall WMPC. Or remove then reinstall the entire K-lite codec pack. Then set up WMPC again.

very odd.....try the advice of the guy who posted above this. I figured you were talking about WMP. I never use that, it pales in comparison to WMPC.

Re: Windows media player help needed

I use a codec pack called CCCP, Combined Community Codec Pack I think. IIRC it has Media Player Classic in it too.

Thanks for the advice. I uninstalled it, reinstalled it, and I have the same problem. I don't get it. I installed quicktime to try to get around the problem and the videos aren't choppy anymore but I still don't get sound.

I'm getting kind of pissed about this.

WMP & Mp4 (QT) files don't always play nicely with each other

Re: Windows media player help needed

Got it. I went to my sound settings and for some reason some sigma tel audio thing was being used. I turned that off and lo and behold, the sound works.

I would have went there before but all other sounds worked. Whatever, it works now. Thanks for the help all.
