NHL Free Agency
Is pretty damn hot this year. Wings lost both Bertuzzi and Schneider to the Ducks, but have picked up Brian Rafalski. Drury and Briere both left the Sabres, and Gomez left the Devils.
This is probably a me and Draggon only thread again, but who cares. Thoughts?

Re: NHL Free Agency
I've been away all weekend and the start of this week.
Let me go over the lists and see what I think. I'll get back to you.

Re: NHL Free Agency
Philli pushes the market up AGAIN.
NYR did a good job.
Sucks to be Edmonton.
Vancouver got some small parts, but needs to make trades to make anything happen.
Burt and Burke are reunited...no surprise there.
LA makes some changes, well needed changes.
Toronto still sucks.

Re: NHL Free Agency
Because Bettmen promised more $$ for his inner circle of owners.
And don't think that The Leafs aren't a MAJOR player in the Balsille sale falling through.
And go rent Bon Cop Bad Cop if you can find it....you'll get a laugh or 2, even though you aren't Canadian.

Re: NHL Free Agency
Meanwhile in Calgary, Iginla and Regehr both sign huge long-term contracts at what are still discounted rates (Iggy on the open market could've gotten at least 8 mill, Regehr probably 5+, they sign for 7 and 4 per year respectively) GO FLAMES!
Flyers and Avs won this FA period, at least early on, though.
We had a lockout so that, in spite of the fact Philly, Colorado, and NYR spent a lot, next year when Buffalo and their ilk dip into FA pools, they'll be able to because THEY'LL have the cap space. Philly had like 20 million because they sold off all their overpriced guys and got good young defensive prospects, draft picks, and Biron. Flyers and Pens look like a dynamite battle for their division this season.

Re: NHL Free Agency
So you don't think that the Rangers re-signing Shannahan and Henrik and getting Gomez and Drury puts them in the winners circle for FA success?
