Re: whats the best sports games?
EA's games are still tops. However they seem to never change anymore. With no competition they really don't have too.
EA has the license for the NFL, so they are the only one that can put out a NFL game. 2k has the rights to MLB. MVP from EA was the best baseball game on the market (2005). Now 2k is making the games and they suck.

best sports games are football games. but not the "updated" ones, the ones where they change gameplay and shit for the better

I think he means the ones where they just update the rosters and stats and junk. He likes the ones where they change graphics, update and new features. I think.

Re: whats the best sports games?
nba 2k7 on xbox 360 is really good i believe. i recently read an article about next years madden and ncaa on 360 and they are suppose to be alot better unlike 07's. they are making them more next-gen with the gameplay

Re: whats the best sports games?
I am a HUGE fan of the NCAA football franchise. I have religiously bought and played every edition since like 2001. Most of the 360 games I have are EA games. Same with my regular XBOX.

Re: whats the best sports games?
I have been playing the EA NHL franchise since '93...still good, and the next-gen upgrades to gameplay were good, but the defensive AI is still horrible...though every hockey game is like that.
As far as EA's next gen games go...the gameplay is ok, but they removed everything I liked in the out of game experience. I loved moving franchises and shit in Madden...loved the depth of MVP's minor leagues (Wish they had won the rights) and the campus king or whatever of NCAA football.
2K has great out of game features, but their graphics SUCK and most gameplay isn't much better.
EA has got some videos and interviews out right now selling the upgrades to Madden and NBA, but I'll withhold judgement until I play them.
Now, as far as 2k baseball goes...I love the pitching mechanics, and the out of game features in Dynasty mode (Scouting reports, player morale etc)..though I wish there was a news list so I could scroll through hires, fires, signing, trades etc...like there was last year.
The baserunning SUCKS, as does the throwing aspects of fielding. I'm also not a fan of the camera angles, or replay options. VIP box or whatever it's called and the mini games are a waste of time...

I finally broke down and bought 2K7 for the 360 a few days ago. I was needing a baseball fix and was getting tired of manually updating MVP 05's rosters.
But after playing 2K7 I have to agree with everything you have said about it. The pitching is amazing. It's the only baseball game I have ever played where I enjoyed pitching more than hitting. The presentation is done well too. But the baserunning is horrible. Half the time guys don't advance when they are supposed to, or balls hit to the gap that should be a stand-up double turn into you getting gunned by three feet. Also, there are way too many times that you get a HR robbed.
But all in all, I like the game and am enjoying season mode right now.

Re: whats the best sports games?
Oh don't get me wrong...As soon as the box came home I put it right in and started a new dynasty (Love making teams awesome on the cheap).
As you said...enjoy the pitching more then hitting, so I made myself a pitcher (was anyway) but I do like the hitting mechanics that include stepping into the pitch.
Don't forget that sometimes the guy slides completely wrong as to the direction you pushed...and the dive back to second on a hard grounder up the middle when the guy should be scoring.
Also, the 2k trade finder can be cool, but I hate it when you try and trade position or position and they don't go for it because "it would make them unbalanced" makes getting the guys you want harder.

I too love taking a really cheap team, like the Twins, and working the system through trades to make them a super team for real cheap.

Re: whats the best sports games?
i agree wit kornut, baserunnin sucks, fielding is horrible, and roobing homeruns are daily web gems,
the pitching is really the best part, though i ran into a problem, i used to strike out the computer opponents so easily, i just love to watch them swing, but it seems that ive lost my touch, itz harder now, roy oswalt is still leading in strikeouts, but i had a game where i whiffed 14 ! now im lucky if get 4 or 3, god if only i could remember wat i was doing right !! anyone have any advice on how to strikeout computer teams?

Re: whats the best sports games?
Not only did EA make few positive changes in the most recent incarnation of Madden, but in the 360 version, things were actually removed. Owner mode was given the axe, and Franchise mode was gutted. You couldn't even change a player's number. I've been a huge fan of the Madden series since about 1997, and I even stuck with it through the Madden 64/no NFL license debacle, but I barely played Madden 07. It just stunk. If this is what comes of their sole possession of the license, then they need to have it taken away.

Re: whats the best sports games?
NHL 2K6 or 7 are really good games. MLB 2K6 is good also but it freezes sometimes after a long homerun. I really don't like the EA football games at all.
Best sports games ever: Blades of steel and Tecmo Super Bowl both for NES
