FOR JAHILION

We are currently crashing a (pre-de-germed, era) space probe into Jupiter, to avoid one of the planets moons/ice covered, we don't wanna infest earth"bugs" upon it.
They think it may be inhabitable.

People of earth dying of disease/starvation/poverty, fuck the space program

What do you think the benefits v.s. waste assosiated with the space program are?

Is it worthit?

Re: talkin' bout exploration/space

There's a lot of shit that was invented because of space exploration that we take advantage here on earth; titanium, carbon fiber, WD-40, rubber, etc.

As a whole, I think the space program is a joke, but at least we get cool stuff out of it.

Other space program products: "Tang", that food in a tube stuff, "Velcro". I think that the space program is necessary, mainly because it establishes a goal for the scientific community to try and attain. Without a goal to strive for, focus would be lost and technological progress would decrease.

Do you REALLY want me to get technical and tell you how many different types of rubber are needed for zero gravity and thousand degree heat and why you cant use regular stuff on space shuttles? Or will you just take my word for it that because of the space program the rubber we now use is a little better than the one used to vulcanize tires in the early 1900's?

It is either the Discovery Channel or something, but I saw a show advertised call "Tactical to Practical" and it talks about this sort of thing. Tactical tools that are now used everyday by we civilians.

I dunno about getting off the planet to escape nutcases/ terrorists, but I think it is more of the imperialistic views of conquering the world to the modern man - conquer the Universe - Solar Sytem - WTF ever isn't already "ours" so we can have more wars/resources
