According to this article from ESPN, the Lakers offered the head coach position to Coach K... what does everyone think of this? Obviously he's a great coach, but I don't know if he's a great fit for the Lakers... apparently Kobe thinks he would be, though.

Plus, if Coach K leaves Duke, who will they get as a replacement?

Why would Coach K. leave Duke? It's insane. Does he really think he could get Shaq to play "D" if Shaq even stays? Will Kobe be around or be in jail? Coach K. needs to stay in the college game and the college game needs him to stay. If he sticks around the NCAA and keeps winning, he could be remembered as the greatest coach ever . . . the Knute Rockne of basketball. Yes, he could surpass Wooden, only because today's competition is much, much tougher.

Going to the pros would be a mistake. But on Coach K.'s side, there are about 45 million reasons why he's considering the offer. Money screws up everything.

I think it would be a mistake for him to leave, too, but like you said, money screws up everything. He could be a great coach in the NBA, but he won't have successes like he's had at Duke, no matter which team he's coaching.

Im not sure he could be that great a coach in the NBA. Its a completely different game tahn college. Obviously he will be a decent coach, and maybe become pretty good in the future, but i want a proven coach for my Lakers.

Coach K turns down $40 Mil over 5 years, 5% ownership and team president to stay at the greatest school in the world. Great day for college basketball. As much as I hate Carolina, it's awesome that Roy stayed too. We can't lose our players AND coaches to the NBA. It's getting ridiculous.

a lot of the college coaches switching \over to nba in the past have failed and screwed up..i tink its a good choice to stay at duke
