Re: Playoff Hockey Thread
Well last nite accomplished a few things. Ottawa is through to the next round, no way Pittsburgh is coming back. Detroit up 2-1 to Calgary, maybe Calgary we'll see after tomorrow. They only allowed 28 shots this time. Dallas is done. Minnesota is done. What the hell was Hartley thinking putting Lehtonen in net? That was embarassing. Tonite I'll be watching the Islanders/Sabres and then SanJose/Nashville. Gotta love the playoffs!

Re: Playoff Hockey Thread
Well, it's 3-0 Ottawa near the end of the second of game 5.
Sorry to say I told you so, but Korny....I told you so.
They'll be great very soon, just not his year.

Re: Playoff Hockey Thread
Well that's it for Pittsburgh then, Do you think Crosby and Stall are going to go to the World Championships. Calgary is tied it up, what the fuck was with TSN or CBC not televising the game. Anaheim is through (yawn) Not much Scoring in the Nucks game though. Hopefully they can finish it Saturday. Did Lindros contribute anything? The Sabres should be able to finish the Islanders tonite. Not sure about San Jose/Nashville though.

Re: Playoff Hockey Thread
They will be invited, but who knows if they go.
CBC had the game, but it was regionalsed. Canucks game was the main network, but if you lived in Alberta/Saskatchewan then you got the Calgary game.
I hope the finish it Sat. as well, but Dallas has to win at home at some point...scared I am. No he didn't.
Yes they should.
SJ should finish tonight too.

Re: Playoff Hockey Thread
Sabres take it in 5. The isles didnt look like a team that was about to be eliminated until 10min left in the 3rd. So it's either tampa bay or the rangers. I'm hoping for the rangers cuz i would love no thing more than to send that bitch Jagr home packing.

Re: Playoff Hockey Thread
The wings take it in 2OT. I love that shit. Playoffs have been great so far. San Jose looks really good in the west. I really hope Dallas wins this game seven so we play them in the next round and let the ducks beat up on the sharks a little bit before we get to them.
In the east, I think it'll be the Sabres that come out on top. They want it REALLY bad after losing in the Conference Championship last year. It'll be a good series when they come up against Brodeur (which I think they will), but they've got enough skills to get some pretty goals behind him.

Re: Playoff Hockey Thread
Well, I hope you're wrong about Dallas, but I said that if the Canucks lost game 5 at home they would lose the series, so we shall see. Too bad, we've lost our last 5 chances to put a team out.
Buffalo should come out of the East, but they didn't look like it against NYI. Ottawa and New Jersey (When Brodeur is on) looked better so far....
I think the West is going to beat each other too much to beat anyone that comes out of the East...which is exactly what's happened the last few years.
So far it's been entertaining to watch everything but Vancouver/Dallas...which has had amazing goaltending on both sides...making a boring game at least a little interesting.

Re: Playoff Hockey Thread
bahaha!
So most people don't like hockey, this is true...
But PTI and Rome both called it the best sport to watch live.
I agree completely...not a good TV sport because it's so fast and the puck is so small, live in person...AMAZING!
1 hour, 11 min. till game 7....

Re: Playoff Hockey Thread
Well, I have been away...
Some damn good playoff Hockey!!
So, before the plaoffs started, someone said that Calgary would dominate the Deadwings? I never heard that, and also knew it to be a lie!! The Deadwings are a dman good and tough team, they have great goaltending and add in just a touch of cheapshit. They know how to play PLAYOFF hockey. Bastards!!!
Congrats to them for Round 1
But Vancouver, wow!! What a great series that was!!! Dallas nearly had them! And I am glad Vancouver one. Now that Bitchtouzzi is gone, I can once again cheer for them, and I hope they make it all the way.
And there is some truth to the fact that the West beats themselves up more then the East, because it is tougher hockey. But, if they are not to exhausted, they can win.
It will be a great finals, no matter what.

Re: Playoff Hockey Thread
I'll pick Buffalo to win the cup for the aforementioned reason of the west beating themselves up.
I hope I eat my words but I am unfortunately going to pick the sharks to win the west. They are young, talented and (I think) tough enough to get through both us (the wings) and the ducks (who I think will beat the canucks).
As far as hockey as the best sport: hell yea it is. The playoffs are better and tougher than any other sport. Going to the games is awesome but I like watching it at home almost as much. Fox used to have a blue aura around the puck that made it easier to follow, I think if other networks picked that up interest would go up as well.

Re: Playoff Hockey Thread
There is nothing in pro sports that is tougher on a person then the NHL playoffs...No players play through as much pain (Crosby played the last 2 weeks of the season and the playoffs with a broken foot).
Nothing is more exciting (Other then NJ, Van, Dal and Minny) then playoff hockey.
There is no tradition as great as the handshake, and no trophy more classic then Lord Stanley's Cup.
Also, as much as it pains me to say it, Vancouver won't beat Anaheim, and it's a coin toss between the Ducks and the Sharks.

Re: Playoff Hockey Thread
2-0 going into the third and we fuck it up.
No way back now. Had we held on there would have been a chance.
I doubt we come home with games to play.

Bug.
I can't believe the Sabres lost last night to take it back to 2-2. I thought they would lose one in NY and then wrap it up game five in Buffalo. That is saying nothing about the "goal" with 20 seconds left.... which I thought was in. Nobody asks me though.

Re: Playoff Hockey Thread
Thanks for the fix. Didn't get it in time before I lost the edit option.
I agree that Buffalo looks off. And the 17 sec. goal.... I agree that it must have gone in, but the rules clearly state that the puck has to be SEEN fully across the line or it doesn't count...
Otherwise Calgary would have won the cup in game 6 of the '04 finals.
On another note...I fucking hate Harry Neale. How long has he had to learn the Canucks now? 2 series! Last night he called out Alain Vigneault Micheil Tarrien TWICE!!
Not to mention fucking up Bielska and Henry Sedin.
Better then having to deal with Bob Cole though...Mats Naslund and the Sundin Twins.
Those 2 should be doing local Leafs telecasts instead of the National Feeds...they don't care about learning anyone else's name.
And I hear Toronto media people saying they would rather have the odd name said wrong and have a known voice on the air.
IT'S NOT THE ODD NAME, IT"S HALF THE FUCKING LEAGUE EVERY SINGLE GAME!
