I've noticed problems with speed .... and yes, I do give up to try again later. I've tried at least a dozen times to upload some larger videos only to have it time out on me which is very frustrating.

I'm not sure what could be done but I'd love to see a quicker site.

Agreed. I have broadband, so it's doubly frusterating to have a page load slow. Especially the Edge/Bottom on the Hole forums, when it's mainly text.
