I want to know how many people are using vista right now. What version and what you think of it. I also am wanting to know how many people here are wanting it. Let me hear who wants it and what people think of it whoever gots it.

I'm using Vista Home Premium. I like it overall. Windows seem to come up quickly, I can have allot of things going at once, too. But that could just be the fast computer that I'm not used to.

Some things are annoying, like the constant asking of permission for commands. that's pretty annoying. but we already talked about that.

I wouldn't mind Vista Ultimate for testing, but there's still a lot of bugs I would like fixed before rolling it out on all my computers

I'm happy with XP and MCE for now :-)

currently using the last RC and the RTM. No significant issues. Moving from 1 to 2 gigs of RAM seemed to make it more responsive.

I think that it is a great OS, despite the drivers needing some work.
It takes a little time to learn your way around but worth it.
The securities features are a pain in the ass but you can feel a little more secure, easy to turn off if you wish.
The more you play with it the more you like it...

I am using home premium. Had a couple of days of minor issues but got through them and it all good now. Definately agree that the more you use the more you like.

I'm using Vista Business and I'm hating it! It takes so much longer to do normal IT configurations...., it takes 4 mins to boot-up and uses 720Mb or my 1Gb ram even when nothing is running - grate operating system...NOT

Im usingvista ultimate I like it better than home premium I have had to upgrade a few of my video programs if you set permision for your back up drives in security it speeds things up emensly

Eh, maybe one of these years I'll upgrade but XP is treating me well. I only have MCE on one computer and it seems to operate well too. Guess I should mention that there are six or so desktops plus two laptops here.
Still, might be nice to have Vista to try on my computer (it's the only one in the house strong enough to handle it).

Well im kind of new at vista. What are some of the tricks for speeding it, like what they advertise when they come and set up your computer. Thanks

there are a couple of other threads about vista(less) . those outline some of what it takes to speed up this piece of anal retentive bloatware .

a few things that you can do :

install a minimum of one gig of ram ... more if your MB shares ram with the video . the more the merrier .

run a cpu of at least 2 GHz .

turn off frivolous windows and other "services" running in the background .

switch to a more efficient types of "anti" software and firewalls ... norton and mccaffe are bloated , resource hogging examples of too many bells and whistles plus invasiveness . turn off the windows flavors of anti-virus/spy and firewall ONLY if you are protected by other programs that take their place .
