media help
I hope this dosnt make me look stupid But a number of my videos freeze up in the first few seconds. Its just the picture though, the sound still comes through just fine. The video ends up looking like a screenshot. I have windows media player and I just downloaded version 11. Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: media help
Could be a number of things. One thing could be your computer is processing it to slow or if your viewing online you could wait till the file is completely downloaded. Another thing are you viewing videos that need codecs make sure you have codecs or div x. Just try that for starters.

You can always overclock but i dont know what you have for a computer. Have much ram do you have and how much of it are you using. What processor are you running. Codecs can be downloaded from microsoft website.

I've never heard of that happening quite the way you stated. If you did'nt have the correct codec it should'nt play at all. I use the DivX player only cause you can play a Avi before its finished downloading. This might help, how many media players do you have on your computer. You really only need about 3......maybe 4. When you download a new media player it will claim itself to be your default player. You might have a conflict of programs. Check to make sure you don't have 2 players trying to do the samething. It does'nt take alot of processing power or memory to play a vid. IF you've been able to play vids on this same computer without problems before, you should be in good shape. Also try a "Memory Dump" & see if it helps. Here's a handy website for some useful tools that are free & almost all are less than a 1 meg download >>> http://www.analogx.com <<< Download "MemMax" if you don't have a lot of memory & it will help.
