So I just bought an XBox 360. And yes, I realize that this device has been on the market for quite some time. I held off on buying one for the longest because I was holding out for Halo 3. When I found out new multiplayer maps for Halo 2 are coming out for the 360 alone, it was the catalyst that I needed to stop living in the past. So anyhow, what stuff (Games, Accessories, Online Content, etc.) Is worth getting? What should be avoided?

Well if you're on a budget get Fight Night Round 3 or Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. Both just went greatest hits and can be purchased for 30 bucks new.

Gears of War, Rainbow 6: Vegas, Crackdown, Dead Rising, Saint's Row, and Oblivion are all good choices.

I recommend a second controller as well.

Ideally, the very first thing you will buy is a charge and play kit. Being able to simply plug the controller in and keep playing when the battery gets low is very handy, and if you plug it in and power off the console, the xbox will stay on in standby to charge the controller and then shut itself off when it's done. I never have to play with it plugged in because I just plug it in every time I finish playing.

For a new 360 owner...


About Accessories -

- Never get a wired controller. Its pointless. Just get a AA battery charger for $10 at target and you will never need batteries.
- Get the wireless headset by Microsoft, its really good and cool looking. A little expensive but worth it.
- If you play PC games get the Wireless Gaming Reciever so you can use ur controllers / headset on your PC.
- I would recommened the Pelican / Nyko cooling fan add-on as the 360 does run very hot.
- Buy at least 2x of the 1600 point cards right away. There are ALOT of great games to download form the XboxLive Arcade (Mortal Kombat / Streetfighter II / Doom / Paperboy / Pacman / Geometery Wars + more)
- Again, expensive, but the $100 wireless adapter really is worth it, rather than have it wired or a 3rd party wireless adapter.
- Do not put the 360 vertically! IT CAN SCRATCH DISCS!


Some Advice on Games

- Oblivion, but be prepared waste many hours
- Halo 2, an original Xbox game, but still awesome till H3 comes out
- Gears of War (not Halo, but still fun)
- Madden 07 / FNR3 / Fifa 07 if you like sports games
- I would HIGHLY recommened getting either gamefly or gameznflix if you are just getting a new system. For $20 a month you can get 3 games at a time, which really helps since games are expensive, especially new ones.
