So the Nashville Predators just landed Peter Forsberg for a HUGE price.
They gave up 2 great young players and 2 draft picks (1st & 3rd) for a guy that's injury prone and an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
Nashville has basically said that this is the year they're going to try and win it and damn the rest!
To bad there isn't anyone in Nashville that cares...

Thoughts?

Thoughts? Yep, we're (The Red Wings) gonna get fucked by Forsberg again.

I say, good move by both teams. With the new Salary Cap, just like in football for the most part, teams are only going to have a 3-5 year window in which to build a great team and make a run for it. After that they're going to have to go back and let the cap settle down and start over. Good move on the Pred's side to win the cup this year, and good move for the Flyers because they need young talent in which to build a team around more than they need a superstar.

ya i thought i heard that on the philly sports station. it sux but they werent doing much with him. he maybe one of the best ever but flyers need something different. i didnt hear the specifics of the deal and this is only the 2nd mention ive heard of it. but then ive been shoveling snow the last 3 days so lol. i loved forsberg but he was injury prone and gettin old. maybe it will help rebuild them. cuz they sure aint doin shit this year

So now that I've had a day to th ink about it. I don't think they over paid. The flyers got a draft picks that are going to be low in each round in what is supposed to be a weak draft, a historical underachiever and an injured prospect that still needs to prove himself in the bigs.
And with the MASSIVE youth depth the Preds have at D already, Parent wasn't needed to badly in Nashville.
I think it'll work out both ways too.
Damn Nashville...we better not face them first round!

Yes, one reason is because the bastards are alwasy so damn good.
and also becasue they are the freakin Red Army!!!! (J/K)

My Avs are such underachiever's this year, and hardly ever hit.
The only good things is that Sakic now has 600.
I do miss Peter and someof the other players that left due to the CAP, but it will make for better hockey in the long run.

No I did not. I did not see that.

He may whine some, but he won.
I do not remember the loser of the fights name, because he was a hack.
The Avs gave the Deadwings some great games back then.
To bad they have not in a while.
I always have and always will hate the Deadwings, even before the Avs came to Colorado.

But I will watch the games, hoping they lose, and am usually disappointed in that, but not the play.

Oh man, those pics are awesome! He won at least two, one with the flames and the other with the wings. I think he retired after the '97 cup so he wasn't around for the next year when Ozzy was the winning 'minder.

God I love seeing Patrick bleed . To his credit though, if it wasn't for him, we would have won the cup in '96 also.

Would have liked him a lot better had he stayed with the Habs... or gone to pretty much any other team.

When was the last time the Avs and Wings met in the playoffs?
That's why they haven't had any good games lately...no matter what the elague thinks, rivalries are born and breed in the playoffs.

Also, great photos, and yes, Vernon won 2 cup and 1 conn smyth to Roy's 3 and 3.
Also, Roy coached the Quebec Ramparts to the Memorial Cup championship last year. That's Junior hockey in Canada if anyone didn't know.

We host it this year...Auto entry into the final tournament! We should win the right anyway, but just in case!!!
