360 Users help the Draggon
OK...So I bought the wireless adapter for the 360 and that's fine...but my router is setup securely (WEP) and the xbox just connected on it's own...with a WAY weaker signal then it should being so close to the router.
I'm thinking the xbox is picking up a neighbour's network but I can't find a network list in the system menu. Am I just blind?
Also, I want to point out that the intercooler and network adapter don't like each other (The adapter can't click into it's home properly)
And if I were to upgrade my router, what make/model would you recommend?

on the far right tab there's a network settings section, inside that is "wireless settings" just highlight the box and hit a. It'll give you an option to search for local networks. That's also where you input your WEP key.

Ya, but it doesn't let me...it just says I found one and then connects straight up to it...no key nothing.
It's not a big deal, it's just that I don't feel the need to leach off a neighbour when I have a wireless network in the house.

It should tell you what network you are connected to in one of those windows. I've switched back and forth between my network and my neighbors network before. I would have to be in front of my 360 to tell you exactly how though.

Draggon, if you can do it without too much hassle go with a hard-wired LAN connection to get the best possible network performance. Call me old school but the only place I'll use wireless is on my laptop. For gaming, either console or PC, I will always opt for hard-wired. just my dos centavos...

True, but I can't go hard-wired and I've got my 360 hooked up through an original xbox wireless adapter and I've yet to have any probs. The 360 wireless adapter sucks anyway because it's USB which I believe is slower. The original xbox adapter hooks up through the ethernet port and just mimics a direct connection.
But if you have a choice, plug that shit in.

Re: 360 Users help the Draggon
I would way prefer to have the direct connection. Unfortunately i bought a pool table and had to rearrange my entire basement, and the home theatre and my office are now not right beside each other so there is no way to play wired without the cable running through tha ha;;s etc...not cool
There seems to be an issue with my router and xbox that linksys and xbox are trying to sort out. If they do, I'm thinking about getting a booster to put between the 2 so I can have the strongest possible connection.
There is the other issue...to read the help I have to be in here, then run to the box and back etc...I'm lazy!
