Best College Football games last weekend

They called it "matchup weekend". It was a week pitting 14 of the top 25 teams against each other... plus a few other matchups such as the Bowden Bowl (Clemson vs FSU).

What were the best games of the weekend?

Re: Best College Football games last weekend

My picks would be a couple of games out of the SEC...

Auburn vs LSU - a defensive 10-7 game wth a chance for a comeback on the last play...

And my homer pick... Florida vs Tennessee - a 21-20 4th quarter comback win by the Gators in front of 105k Tennessee fans in Neiland Stadium. Both games were in doubt until the very end, and both in front of national TV audiences.

Oklahoma/Oregon

One of the best games I've ever seen. It's actually playing on ESPN classic already.

Oklahoma/Oregon was a good game. I hated that the recall official blew two calls that went against Oklahoma. The Ducks on-side kick that only went 9 yards. The ref claimed that a Sooner touched the ball first, making it live. It was clear, in my opinion, that an Oregon player touched the ball first, and before it went a full 10 yards.
That call gave Oregon their comeback opportunity.

The Ducks may have been able to pull off the comback, but... Don't ya' hate it when poor officiating determines a game rather than the play on teh field.

Sooners should have made the field goal, they didn't and lost. BOO-HOO

Auburn-LSU was the best game I got to see...I was watching the Michigan-Notre Dame game, but lost interest when Notre Dame started getting the shit kicked out of them. Im watching the replay of the Tennessee-Florida game right now on CSS...

Hell, they should have never have needed the field goal... the refs missed the call on the onside kick, missed the call on the pass interferance call that was tipped at the line of scrimaged, and missed the non-call on another potential pass interferance call when the contact with the reciever happened before the ball was tipped. The replay official could have overturned all three calls, but didn't. If the color analyst could see it, the replay official should have seen it too.

I like Bob Stoops. I think OU was robbed.

The whole officiating crew has been suspended, for God's sake.

And Oklahoma has NEVER had a wrong call go their way?? Mistakes happen, oh well.

Re: Best College Football games last weekend

Oh, every team has had bad calls go both ways on them. I know my Gators have. (Just ask any Tennessee fan.)

The onside kick call was one that instant replay could have (and should have?) corrected. I think the official realized now that he blew the call.

One problem may have been that the replay official may not have been able to slow down the replay to check it carefully. The Pac-10 may not have as sophisticated replay technology as other conferences. That is one issue with the instant replay system... all the major conferences use it, but some have better setups than others.
