New Games Like Doom3, HL2 & the upgrade cycle
 

I'm looking forward to Doom3 & HL2 like most people
but i'm not looking forward to the needed upgrade to
play these games at a desent frame rate.

Of course i could just turn the res & detail down, but
whats the fun in that?

What about you guys? would/will you upgrade? or just
turn stuff down so you can still play these games without
the eyecandy?

I'm definetely gonna upgrade, but on my budget, i'll still
have to turn some of the detail down lol. :rant2:

i'm just gonna turn down the detail...fuck $400 for a video card to run a game.

Ill buy the new hardware because I realize I wont just need it for doom 3 or HL2 but for other games as well...and I like my games to run perfect and at whatever settings I want to run it at. Plus my crap is getting dated..this TI4600 just isnt cutting it anymore

Waiting this next year out sadly.

But I think it's smart, I dont wanna get fucked with a 400+ dollar AGP video card and then have a PCI Express motherboard.

i allready updated but i wouldent update just yet......i would wate a bit and see if prices go down around the holiday time and then upgrade right before the end of the year.....

yeah i will be upgrading sometime soon. I realized the other day that I have had my basic core rig for about 4 years now. But it has been rock solid other than frying a couple power supplies. Of course that happens when you are running 24/7 hehe. I've upgraded the sound card, and video card, but I am still pimping the 1.2 Tbird. Woo hoo! Works for what I use it for right now.

When HL2 and Doom hit, I will find myself upgrading. It's a good excuse I think!

I am waiting for those games to come out too, but somewhat for Doom 3, Ive heard from ebgames its comming out on july, but since its getting close, no news of it comming out yet...
