Any European Metal fans out there?
Just wondering.
I Seem to be listening to more European bands as of late than American bands. Really into In Flames, Soilwork, Hypocrisy, Children Of Bodom, I really love some older Euro stuff too. At the Gates, Arch Enemy (old singer). And Witchery, Even though they are from Scottland. Does that count?heheh Just wondering if anybody else is into the same stuff. |
Re: Any European Metal fans out there?

C.O.B.- sixpounder
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TFDEGMT6 C.O.B.-Kissing the shadows. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=F1L1O06U 0Peth- Deliverance http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RJLYJXA9 In Flam3s- Colony http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RDXWO8M2 Opeth is a band from Sweden I really enjoy. I think the average song length is 7 minutes. Very diverse, they are considered Prog-metal. (progressive metal) But have alot of metal, Death metal, And even folk music in one song. In Flames are from Gothenburg, Sweden And Children of Bodom are from Finland, And like to drink alot! Jay Bittner toured with COB in Euorpe and said they were outta control. As for Dream Theater, I am a fan of John Petruci. As a guitar player myself. |
Re: Any European Metal fans out there?
Yeah I actually don't really listen to much American music anymore. Too much has turned to shit. Euro Metal is way cool. Every band you guys are mentioning are awesome except for maybe In Flames.

Except In Flames? Jester Race,And Colony Were great albums! The last couple albums can't stack up to those two. At some points they sound like ..ugghh Korn. At the gates, Edge of Sanity( Dan Swano stuff). Great bands also. And Let us not forget Hypocrisy! Hypocrisy- Roswell 47" http://www.megaupload.com/?d=66DGXEDX |
Re: Any European Metal fans out there?
I put In Flames because I saw them live and they made my penis sad. They didn't do that great of a job. But then again it was with Morbid Angel, Soulfy and Pantera, so maybe everyone else was so much better than them. I don't know, it's like Ill Nino, In Flames reminds me a little too much of Nu Metal and I can't stand that shit.
At the Gates = awesome. I do like The Haunted, FOrsaken, Tidfalls, Messugah, Arch Enemy (old and new singer) just too many more to mention. But yeah, unless it's really really underground American metal like Artillery Hell (my old band WOOT) then it doesn't sound that good compared to overseas. |
Re: Any European Metal fans out there?
Yeah, American bands I like Deicide, Death (RIP) Cyptopsy (Canadian), Nevermore. there are a couple others.

Re: Any European Metal fans out there?
Wait a fricking minute. The guys who don't like Dream Theater and In Flames are clearly posers and should leave the hall (Rep for anyone who gets the reference). Also, just exactly what do you mean by European Metal. There are far too many kinds of bands in Europe to call something Euro Metal. Pain of Salvation ios probably the best Prog Metal band in Europe. There are 8 zillion sound-alike power metal bands (not that I don't like them) like Edguy or Angra. There are bands like Blind Guardian which do the whole mythology thing with lots of crunch, speed, and big arrangements. There are bands like Symphony X that do the symphonic metal thing. Evergrey is a great quasi-prog band. Dimmu Borgir and COB are great black metal. You get the picture. There are American bands in all these genres, they're just harder to find under all of the mainstream garbage. For good American Metal bands check out Fates Warning, Jag Panzer, Power of Omens, and of course Dream Theater. on an unrelated note, the power-prog genre is growing rapidly in some areas. Even here in Madison, there's been an influx of damn good bands. Have faith. American metal isn't dead, it's just buried.

Re: Any European Metal fans out there?
Also, I went one of the Pantera etc. shows. You must be confusing Morbid Angel with In Flames, cuz Morbid Angel blew. Hard. And In Flames is far from Nu Metal.

I would say the new In Flames stuff is definetly bordering the Nu-Metal line.. They had a tour with goddam mudvane..... And when I say European metal. I mean bands from Euorpe.... Isnt hard to figure that out. |
Re: Any European Metal fans out there?
Dream Theater sucks.. they put on one of the absolute worst concerts i have ever seen.
