K. Bryant vs V. Carter

Down the stretch, who would you count on?

Kobe Bryant

Career Numbers:
22.5 PPG
5 RPG
4.5 APG
1.5 STL

He has 3 rings (but all with Shaq), voted All NBA 1st-Team 2002, 2003, & 2004. Voted All Defensive 1st-Team in 2000, 2003, & 2004. Won dunk contest in '97. Won All-Star MVP in 2002. Holds NBA record for most 3-pointers made in a game (12)

But he has had run-ins with Phil Jackson, and multiple players on his team. And he has always played on a championship contending team (sans 04-05). But down the stretch, the Lakers have gone to him instead of Shaq.

Vince Carter

Career Stats:
23.9 PPG
5 RPG
4 APG
1.5 STL
nearly 1 Blocks per game
and a career 40% from 3PT

He was voted Rookie of the Year in '99. 6 Time All-Star (highest vote count in i think 4 of those years?) He, along with T-Mac, gave a playoff birth to a historically crappy team. He won the Dunk Contest in 2000 (Best D/C performance ever in my opinion). Won a Gold medal in 2000 (remember that flying t-bag dunk?)

Vinsanity has always been his team's go-to guy down the stretch. Remember that last second 3pt vs the Celtics?

So, who would you depend on down the stretch?

I wouldn't take either.. I would just clone Michael Jordan and have a team full of him.

Sorry, I would take Kobe. That man can play. I have seen him make shots (ala MJ) when he has no bussiness making them. He is an Awesome player. I don't like him, but if I have to have a player to win it - I take Kobe.

You watch, this year, he will come back and be the leader. The trouble that was on him last year should be over, and he will show everyone his ability.

(damnit, and i hate the lakers too!)

I'll take Kobe. He's all around a better shooter and ballhandler and a similar athlete. Kobe has more upside too, and is a proven winner. Even though he'll throw his teammates under the bus, he won't quit on his team ala Vince in Toronto. That franchise is going to suffer for a long time because of what he did to them. Maybe Kobe will mature, but we all know Vince won't.

Vince can go strong to the hoop and hes definately an all-star..........But who would I go with down the stretch??? Ive never seen anyone better at making last second shots/crucial plays then kobe bryant, he lives for them.

Kobe over Carter by along shot. Both are ball hogs but kobe can dish it to players when he trusts them to make it and most often than not he will make a shot himself even though double teamed(which is unnecessary).

Vince is a virus for a team. If you look at him wrong he'll go down like he was hit with a shotgun.

Bigger Vince fan, but think Kobe would be a better option

Kobe Byrant all the way. When Vince was in Toronto he had a history of not giving 100% and now I can't trust him

Re: K. Bryant vs V. Carter

Kobe's numbers were lower with Shaq because it was Shaq's team and he was the leader. Now that he is on Miami Kobe will eclipse Carter easily.

Plus, let me know when Vince ever drops 62 in 3 quarters, then I'll listen to this argument.

/thread.

Kobe is a great scorer, but I don't think he cares enough about any other part of the game to be a player to count on to carry your team to a win. Vince is a freak of an athlete and exciting to watch but not one of the greats. I see TMAC and Kobe as almost the same player with McGrady being less of a dick. I think the only players in the league now that have a chance of elevating to MJ's status when it comes to single handedly making their teams true championship contenders are Dwayne Wade and Tim Duncan. Yeah I know Duncan is boring to watch but he gets the job done and always comes up big when they need him, and Wade when you watch him in the playoffs looks the closest to a Jordan clone I have ever seen, I think that if both are healthy they will meet each other in the championship this year... unless the Pistons take down the Heat.

I could not disagree more. Kobe scores alot....why you ask?? The supporting cast just isn't there. The night that Bryant scored 81 his teamates were 14-42 from the field. He did what he had to do to win the game.

Tonight he takes 22 shots...and they barely beat Golden State in OT. This is with 6 assist. 2 more than his game average.

If he had someone to turn to, to make some shots, he wouldn't be forced to take over games like he has too. Face it.....without Kobe taking 30+ shots a game the Lakers are a below .500 team.

Wade has scorers all around him. Any given night Shaq, Payton, Walker, Haslem, Mourning, or even J. Will can put up higher double digit point totals. Are you going to honestly going say that Parker, Brown, Mihm, and Cook are on the same level as the guys in Miami?? And please....as much as I like Odom for his 12+ boards and 6+ assist a night.....the guy is just too inconsistent to be in this argument.

Everyone talks about how Kobe needed Shaq to win three titles. Well, hate to burst some bubbles but Shaq also needed Kobe.

Bottom line is, Kobe is doing what he needs to do right now to keep L.A. in the playoff hunt with not much help.

The name of the game is winning. At whatever cost. And if that means you have to step up and be a leader (unlike a certain someone in Cleveland) than so be it.

People said the same thing about Micheal when he was scoring alot early in his career. Now.....if he was to score 81 in a game there would be nothing but praise. Kobe does it and gets mixed reaction......WTF??

When D. Wade has three rings and a scoring title (Kobe will this year) then I'll listen to the "Wade is better than Bryant" arguement. But until that...enjoy one of the best players in the game ever to step onto the court and shut the fuck up.

Well, I guess I was wrong on one thing....Kobe had 8 assist tonight.
