file sharing
what are you toughts about file sharing? (music, programs, movies)
Since I'm very old... I see no diference with when we used to make copies od cassettes on the old days, I have to recognize that with the internet the amount of copies it just out of this world. Other thing to consider it the price of a cd, sometimes is too high, and usualy just a couple of songs are worthy.. your opinion? |
Re: file sharing
If i don't download it, i'll just burn it from a friend and make the mp3 myself. When it costs like 13 cents to make a CD, and they charge 15, I don't feel bad at all. The CD companies are the ones stealing all our money.

Re: file sharing
Well I do share with others. The biggest thing to me is that the record companies could still make money if they would just learn to sell their songs over the internet for 1 dollar a song. Most CD's cost around $15 with around 15 songs so come on. I think more and more people would be more likely to start buying single songs off the internet thus not affecting the record companies as much.

Re: file sharing
i havent bought a c.d. since around 2001, and i have no qualms about it.
lol, my favorite part is all these "hardcore" rappers that talk about raping and stealing and killing, then they give interviews saying "don't steal my music, pirating music is wrong, i need to buy another Bentley and $25,000 rims" |
Re: file sharing
The growth of filesharing seems to me like a sign of the quality of music. Why would you go pay $15 for a cd when there's really only one or two songs worth listening to? If i like the band I'll buy the cd.. but there aren't many new cds worth $15.

Re: file sharing
Do you guys have any secrets or tips on how to find song files that don't have that horrible noise in the middle of them?

Re: file sharing

Re: file sharing
my opinion, file sharing is an example of the times, and how they are changing. It is funny how several businesses and systems are forced to adapt and change with this evolution, but the multi-billion dollar record industry is trying to stop an natural evolution.

Re: file sharing
If I can't find it online or I really want the original, I'll go get it. There is just too much garbage on CD's these days. DVD's, nah, I like the extras that come in the original ones. Other than that, those comercials that tell you that the entertainment industry suffers as a whole yadda yadda is just full of shit!

Re: file sharing
To me, there are 2 types of file sharing as seen by the world a.) music and b.) everything else.
The RIAA has made this distinction by suing anyone and everyone it can find. Part of the reason this is happening with the recording industry is that they are really trying to keep their current business model (by not allowing for legal downloads of songs) and partly because artists are releasing so much music so fast that the fans are starting to get sick of the same crap over and over again. The recording industry whines that they're not making enough money rather than focusing on what the people want: better music and a legal way to get a digital version to make more and more "mix" CDs that contain music the consumer wants to hear. |

They have to make theyre money back on recording fees, and advertising blah blah blah, but id still think a cd should be around 8-10 bucks, expecially considering how much filler is in albums these days. |
