the worst thing that you can do is show him that he still gets to you because it means that you still love/hate/fear him and thats a huge turn-on for him which will only encourage him to harass you even more

Depending on how fucked up the shit he did to you was, go say hi and get it over him. It seems pretty evident that you want to talk to him or you probably wouldnt have gotten so nervous.

I don't think it sounds at all like she wants to talk to him. It sounds to me like this asshole made her life at the time a living hell and to be suddenly face to face with him after all this time caught her offguard and threw her back into the past for a moment. Unless you have known a female friend who has been through an abusive relationship, I suppose it would be hard to imagine the fear and pain she has gone through and how after more than a decade, that instant terror is still lurking close by.

Good for you for taking control back and not letting it show after the initial encounter. Good luck for any future times you run into him.

When I was very young, I lived with a guy who was like that. The fact that I am alive today is a miracle in itself. The person I am today finds it amazing to look back and realize that I was with someone who could push me down a flight of stairs and then grab his golf clubs, step over me and go do 18 holes with his buds. (And that was on a good day) I would never be with someone like that now, but even after eight years, when I had to contact him, I still shook like a leaf at the sound of his voice. When someone holds your life in their hands on a daily basis, I don't think you ever really get over it.

You sound incredibly strong, Daddy's_girl and you ought to be damn proud of yourself.

thankyou...I lost a lot of my teenage years to that bastard and have decided he will not take any more of my life...but you guys did help by letting me know that it was okay to react like that and I am not a kid anymore...if he so much as raises his pinky finger to drink tea too high...I will crack his skull with my handy hockey stick.
