Well, I suppose it's all about what you're interested in. If you're into MMA, the best Sports Game is probably Pride FC on the PS2 or the UFC Game for the Dreamcast. The new UFC game coming out is being made by THQ and should be fairly good.

Other people have already listed the other truly good sports games.

If you're interested in sports sims, GreyDogSoftware and OutofthePark both make great sim games.

Ha. I used to have Base Wars. Robots playing baseball never really did it for me. I used to like Little League Baseball for the NES.
