I could have done that, I'm just near the point of sleep right now. I was just thinking about how there are a lot more blacks and other minorites in prison than white people while I said that I guess. Anyways, since the topic is "where did our country go wrong" I want to bring up another point (Jimi, keep talking about anything wrong I'm saying about the prison system): the CIA. One of the first actions of the CIA when it was created right after WW2? I believe in 1958,(correct me if I'm wrong) there were elections in Italy where there were three main parties running for power. The Catholic party, the socialist and the communit. The communist and socialist parites united together and due to our Cold War policy of the time, the CIA directly influenced the results of the election by encouraging the Church (with lots of money I dare say, let's ignore the whole immorality of this now) to tell its congregation to go out and vote for the Catholic party thus winning the elction for them when it seemed like the communist/socialist were in the lead. Also, Afghanistan and the Middle East (Iraq's chemical weapons/expertise comes from the USA and Osama binladen was trained by the CIA) where we freely gave weapons and training to anyone who "said" they were against communism due to our obsession of staying true to the Truman doctrine of doing anything in our power to stop the spread of communism. Although those three actions were for a good cause, it shows how fucked up our foreign policy has been the past 50 years in general and why when Bush suddenly took a unilateral stance the world exploded. During this past election, all the Europeans countries (officialy and publicaly through the gov't) wouldn't DARE show any support for Kerry or disapproval of Bush, yet America tampers with other free elections at will. (another case, in 1963 JFK had the elected president of South Vietnam assassinated and replaced by a dictator) The world exploded b/c the feelings of anti-Americanism were there, but just underneath the sruface. SO anyways, because of this explosion of dislike for America, people world-wide are taking the money they invested in what used to be the only safe place to invest right after WW2 in the world and placing it in other countries. That is hurting our economy and htus hurting America. This post isn't meant to be an anti-Bush thread, so please don't take it that way. I have blasted JFK, Truman and just pretty much any other forien policy leader in the past 50 years.
