Re: Gay Marriages (your thoughts)
Eh.
You know, if the entire hangup here is over the term "marriage", then might I propose that homosexuals do not, in fact, get married?
Marriage can remain the classic, textbook definition that all the religious zealots want it to remain, complete with a god, a church, and a guy in a dress (how gay is that!?) who'll tell you when it's okay to smooch.
Let the union between man and man, or woman and woman, become a separate entity altogether - something just as legal, just as respected and just as recognized as marriage, with all the inherent perks and detriments, but simply enough, not called "marriage".
There.
That'll get all the ridiculous semantics-hounds off everyone's backs.
All the conservative men and women out there can go to sleep at night knowing that their precious, holy institution has not been despoiled by the commingling of them dirty homos, while gays can have their cake and eat it too.
Hell, they could call it "queerriage", for all I care.
All it takes is one little amendment.
We've got 27 already - one more isn't gonna hurt; it'll just sting a little at first. Promise.
