Background info:
My wife was in a car accident and her car was totaled by someone who ran a red light. After surgery and a year of recovery she is going back to work. The problem is we only have one car and our work schedules conflict.

Current Situatuion:
I work 5 minutes from home. I travel on 80% residential streets to get to work. I can ride motox bikes and atvs. I am considering buying a motorcycle until I can afford to buy her another car. Since she just started work money is kind of tight so I cannot spend a lot. I just need something to get to work and back, that's it. This would not be a fun weekend bike. I live in southern California so I do not have to worry about the weather.

What would you reccomend? What kind of motorcylce? What about scooters? Thanks for the help. I am not sure where to start.
